Now, this IS late May, early June CORRECT? Seriously, this sounds like an early autumn forecast......our temps over the weekend are only suppose to reach the UPPER "50's?"

AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE FLAGSTAFF AZ
255 PM MST MON MAY 24 2004

.SYNOPSIS...A PERSISTENT AREA OF LOW PRESSURE OVER THE WEST COAST
WILL PRODUCE A DRY AND WINDY SOUTHWEST FLOW ACROSS NORTHERN ARIZONA
THROUGH THE MIDDLE OF THE WEEK. A DEVELOPING LOW PRESSURE AREA WILL
BRING INCREASING CLOUDS...COOLER TEMPERATURES...AND A CHANCE OF RAIN
SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS TO THE AREA LATE WEDNESDAY NIGHT THROUGH
THURSDAY. ANOTHER LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM WILL ARRIVE LATE FRIDAY AND
SATURDAY...BRINGING MORE COOL AIR...AND CONTINUED WINDY CONDITIONS.

&&

.DISCUSSION...BANDS OF HIGH CLOUDS WILL CONTINUE TO MOVE INTO THE
SOUTHWEST AS JET ENERGY FROM THE PACIFIC REMAINS LOCKED IN PLACE
OVER ARIZONA. HAVE BEEFED UP THE CLOUD GRIDS FOR THE NEXT FEW DAYS
TO ACCOUNT FOR ALL THE CIRRUS. RED FLAG CONDITIONS ARE SLOWER TO
DEVELOP TODAY UNDER ALL THE CLOUD COVER...BUT SEVERAL ZONES ARE
STARTING TO VERIFY...ESPECIALLY OUT EAST. THIS AREA WILL NEED
ANOTHER FIRE WEATHER WATCH TUESDAY AS STRONG WINDS WILL CONTINUE
TO MIX DOWN IN THE AFTERNOON. LOW PRESSURE DROPPING SOUTH OFF THE
CALIFORNIA COAST WILL CUT OFF LATE WEDNESDAY...AND THEN EJECT ACROSS
ARIZONA THURSDAY AND THURSDAY NIGHT. WILL KEEP CHANCE POPS IN THE
FORECAST FOR THIS PERIOD...ESPECIALLY ALONG THE NEW MEXICO BORDER
WHERE MOISTURE AND DYNAMICS ARE CONCENTRATED. THIS SYSTEM WILL MOVE
MORE PROGRESSIVELY THAN PREVIOUSLY THOUGHT AS A STRONG KICKER TROUGH
APPROACHES THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST. THIS TROUGH WILL BRING A STRONG
COLD FRONT AND WINDS TO THE AREA LATE FRIDAY THROUGH SATURDAY...WITH
RELATIVELY COOL AIR REMAINING SUNDAY AND MONDAY. WE ALSO PUT IN A
SLIGHT CHANCE OF POPS WITH THE FRONT ALONG THE UTAH BORDER SATURDAY.
PETERSON.

When this sucker finally blows out of here on Saturday, LOOK OUT! This could cause some HEAVY DUTY Boomers and twisters I'd imagine in the middle part of the country!

but not unusual to have a cool system like this in late May/early June. My records show that we have seen highs in the 60's and 70's in the past during this same time frame. If the models are correct, then there will be a major disaster in the Alley when this thing comes out. Wish I could be there chasing but my trip is planned for early June to catch the closing stages of the Venus Transit.
