Looking at the latest on instability shows extreme instability in place across the central plains with the area of most concern across eastern Kansas and into western Missouri and southeast Nebraska also. This area could see MLCAPES of 4500-5500 j/kg. This combined with mid level steep lapse rates of around 8.0 c/km will result in a explosive situation. Deep layer shear of 30-35 knots is indicated. Hail models shows any supercell that develop will support extremely large hail, possibly softball sized or larger. Large damaging destructive tornadoes are also a possibility later this afternoon. The area of greatest concern will be from Oklahoma City northward through Red Rock, OK, Wichita, KS, Kansas City, KS, and into Omaha, Nebraska. This area could see very dangerous storms as the afternoon wears on. Stay tuned for further details or updates.
