530 AM ADT MON JUN 28 2004

...SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING FOR SOUTHWEST OF BETHEL UNTIL 730
AM...

DOPPLER RADAR INDICATES A LINE OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS SOUTHEAST OF
BETHEL MOVING TO THE NORTHEAST. HEAVY RAIN...GUSTY WINDS...AND HAIL
ARE ALL POSSIBLE WITH THESE STORMS.

PEOPLE IN THE PATH OF THESE STORMS SHOULD TAKE COVER IMMEDIATELY.

THIS WILL BE THE ONLY STATEMENT ISSUED FOR THIS EVENT UNLESS
CONDITIONS WARRANT.

Odd that they issued this under a "WINTER WEATHER BULLETIN".

I could not find an actual SVR issued on this either, but have info in the bulletin you posted, and get this, in a AFD they mentioned "surface based".

Alaska has been "Baked Alaska" recently with temperatures running well above normal ...

Fairbanks, AK has been around 90º, and even Anchorage, AK yesterday was well into the 80's. Some locations in Alaska have been hotter than in the Deep South in the past week ... amazing ...

This is the reason why --- HUGE block over AK and the Yukon coincident w/ a -EPO pattern.

Usually a -EPO in Summer favors below normal temps over the EUS.

All of this under 850H temps over +16 C over the Central part of the state

My brother in law lives in Fairbanks/Ft. Wainwright area, and he said he is baking up there!! They have been hanging out outside playing dominos casue its cooler out than in.. lol.. they dont have central air ...

I believe this is the second time this year they have issued severe warnings in Alaska. I remember one from a few weeks ago also.
