It was a cold summer in the Ozarks. Having lived here most of 41 years, I have not seen another summer this cold. A few August nights in the 40's. I ran my air conditioner less than seven days this summer, where as I usually turn it on in May and leave it on until October.
From the local NWS:
THIS PAST SUMMER WAS ONE FOR THE RECORD BOOKS. WITH THE PERSISTENT BELOW NORMAL TEMPERATURES FROM JUNE THROUGH AUGUST...WEST PLAINS AND VICHY/ROLLA BOTH BROKE RECORDS FOR THE ALL-TIME COOLEST SUMMERS DURING THE PERIOD WHICH WEATHER RECORDS HAVE BEEN KEPT. IN ADDITION...JOPLIN HAD ITS 5TH COOLEST SUMMER ON RECORD...AND SPRINGFIELD HAD ITS 7TH COOLEST RESPECTIVELY.

It's been cooler here, than usual, as well.
We usually hit the mid-90°F mark for this time
of year, but, it's been averaging in the low-to-mid
80°F range. It just makes me wonder what the
up-coming winter is going to be like!
BTW, welcome to the boards, Possum Trot! Your
user-name caught my eye, as, we have a
community about 15 miles from here with the
same name!
