Northern Missorui NightTime Supercells!!

#1 Postby Tornado_Chaser2005 » Sat Sep 18, 2004 1:15 am

Take a look at the Kansas City area right now! I can't believe this isn't being talked about. I can see alot of hook echos, eagle returns, high vils, and rotation on these storms. I think the people in Missouri might be having a Tornado OUtbreak with these monster storms at this early morning hr.

I livw in rhw KC area.... It stormed pretty much all night. As of an hour ago, we had 2 1/2 inches in our rain gauge. My youngest brother had some hail at his house, which is a couple of miles from here.

Reports yesterday indicate hail to around 2" in diameter in Buchanan county and in DeKalb county (around Stewartsville). Also, golfball sized hail was reported on I-435 near Bannister Road (isn't that near Bannister Mall?)

I live not too far from I-435 and Bannister Road. That is correct... the Bannister Mall area.

Yeah what a night those storms were! I can't believe how they looked on radar, yet no reports or tornadoes.

Nope, no tornadoes... just wasn't enough changing of wind direction with height.

They looked like very slow movers with lots of backbuilding. It seemed like the same areas were rained on all night.

I flew past some of that stuff, coming into KC about midnight. They looked good from 30,000 feet up. This after having to fly out of Pittsburgh when the remnants of Ivan decided to flood Pittsburgh.
