Brent, it looks like clouds are trying to thin out across much of AL this morning, amidst the developing thunderstorms to your west and south, and especially just east of the cold front, which will only move at a snail's pace today. I imagine you'll be in a PDS by early afternoon, if not sooner.

TORNADO WATCH FOR PORTIONS OF

SOUTHERN ALABAMA
NORTHERN FLORIDA
SOUTHERN GEORGIA
COASTAL WATERS

EFFECTIVE THIS SUNDAY MORNING AND EVENING FROM 1035 AM UNTIL 600
PM EST.

DESTRUCTIVE TORNADOES...LARGE HAIL TO 2 INCHES IN DIAMETER...
THUNDERSTORM WIND GUSTS TO 70 MPH...AND DANGEROUS LIGHTNING ARE
POSSIBLE IN THESE AREAS.

THE TORNADO WATCH AREA IS APPROXIMATELY ALONG AND 165 STATUTE
MILES EAST AND WEST OF A LINE FROM 80 MILES NORTHEAST OF ALBANY

DISCUSSION...VERY MOIST UNSTABLE AIRMASS CONTINUES TO MOVE INLAND
ACROSS SERN U.S. AHEAD OF VIGOROUS UPPER TROUGH AND COLD FRONT.
WITH STRONG DEEP LAYER SHEAR IN PLACE...THE SURFACE HEATING DURING
THE DAY WILL INCREASE THE NUMBER AND INTENSITY OF THUNDERSTORMS
AHEAD OF FRONT AND ALONG E/W BOUNDARY CENTRAL GA. TORNADIC
SUPERCELL POTENTIAL WILL INCREASE THROUGH THE AFTERNOON WITH
POSSIBLE STRONG TORNADOES.

Oh geez...didn't realize this was PDS, I saw the watch up when it first came out and there was nothing marking it as PDS. Thanks for pointing that out.

You bring up a good point about being near the watch area - they always stress to watch out for severe weather "in and near the watch area".

I honestly don't remember the last time the same area was in a PDS watch 2 days in a row. Of course, that's probably because they've only been issuing these for a couple of years now.

I didn't know it was a PDS until I saw the text. SPC needs to go back to having a different color for them!

Activity is EXPLODING... had a Tornado Warning in Coffee County earlier, now a Severe Thunderstorm Warning just west of Montgomery. Multiple clusters gradually headed this way. Watching for a potential long-tracker somewhere.
