In Louisiana? NAAAAAAAAH!
Actually, our bigger problem is the precip deficits. Dry soils can make for hotter summer temps if we don't get some beneficial rains soon.
So far for the year...
City / to date for May '05 / since Mar 1 '05 / normal value / deficit
Lake Charles: .57" / 4.72" / 9.31" / -5.02
Lafayette: .13" / 3.06" / 11.21" / -4.59"
New Iberia: .02" / 3.61" / 9.76" / -6.15"
Baton Rouge: .30" / 4.42" / 12.74" / -8.32
New Orleans: .10" / 8.10" / 11.93" / -3.83

.Ugh, the dry conditions have no end in sight. Saw a few drops today but that was it and probably about the most we'll get all weekend. Only a 20% chance tomorrow, 30% sunday and then bone dry throughout next week
. Still only 3" of rain since March 1 here in Lafayette which is ridiculous. Safe to say we're in a moderate drought around here now

No end in sight to the dry pattern. Only sprinkles on Saturday, none today or yesterday. High of 92 here yesterday.
We're going to scorch this summer, just like we did last, I'm afraid.

Any thoughts on outlook for northeastern summer? Last decent one was the summer of 2002, with a sunspot driven zonal flow. Last really decent "La Nina" scorcher was 1999 and to a much lesser extent 2001 (with revived La Nina conditions after ENSO-neutral winter).
This El Nino garbage has been just enough to give us 3 winters in a row with more than 40" of snow, yet not strong enough to provide any winter or spring warmth. Any thoughts on pattern change?

It's 83 here in LaPlace.
The only difference today as opposed to the last couple is that cloud cover is keeping the temps down. There actually was a little bit of a cool front that came thru.

Couple of models (GFS, Euro) are trying to drop an upper level low southward to the Gulf Coast by the weekend and introducing the r-word into the forecast, but at this point, I'll just enjoy the unseasonably cool and dry air we're experiencing and keep those sprinklers going.

You lucky dog bayou. We received maybe .05" from a shower yesterday along with zilch today. Our rain chances have also been slashed for this weekend. Originally it looked like we could get some very beneficial rains but now it could be yet another bust. We need some rain badly my yard is shriveling up along with everyone elses around here
