with inundating rainfalls ... many locals have seen over 3" of rain, some of it occurring yesterday (James Island, North Charleston, Summerville, Johns Island, West Ashley) with as much as 5" of rain in just 2 hours on Monday. included were ½" diameter hail, frequent CG strikes, and gusty winds with very slow movement to the cells as a stationary boundary bogged down across the Lowcountry. Storm totals across the Lowcountry in spots have exceeded 8" in the last 3 days.

Fri May 20th 2005-- Storms that moved through Pickens County, S.C., Friday morning are blamed for the loss of 16 beef cattle on one farm.
Tommy Boggs said he woke up to find the cows dead near a tree that was struck by lightning sometime overnight.
Boggs said it appears the cows huddled under the tree to avoid the rain when the bolt hit and spread along the ground, electrocuting the animals.
Boggs said the lost animals, some of them pregnant, represented half of his herd, worth more than $15,000.
He said the animals couldn't easily be insured against an act of God, so he's out half of his income for the year.
