Made it to a balmy 48 here at my place. 41 now with winds gusting. Damp! Reminds me of a trip we took to the northeast in November several years ago. That was miserable cold.

Dew point has, but need clearing soon. First freeze may bust but tomorrow looks like a sure bet.
I can still hear that wind howling too... tomorrow night will definitely be colder I believe(which was the original idea)

And makes it into the top 10 earliest first freezes for DFW, very very impressive cold! Tomorrow mornings all-time low is 31F for DFW set back in 1906, has a chance to tie or break that record

Re: Texas Fall 2019
This pattern is also keeping our source region cold and models show this continuing into November. The past couple of winters have suffered because our source region was often above normal, so when we got a good setup the air coming down wasn't very cold. Looking further out, not seeing anything that suggests we don't keep this pattern locked in.

Re: Texas Fall 2019
I remember way back when I would look for videos from an infamous guy who won't be named and talked about snow cover in Canada at lot with winter forecasts. I checked yesterday and things appear to be pretty much average so far up there if my site is accurate, so that's good.

Bubba, i think it will warm back up. We dont want it cold so early. At least i dont. We have had many falls where its been cold and winter was blowtorch. Do you have a good analog for winter?

I’m thinking that, after how the fast few winters have gone, I’m really not going to pay attention to analogs this year. Chances are the opposite will happen.

Sitting at 49 down here in Corpus which is pretty darn cold and much colder than forecasted. To think it was 90 on Monday. I wonder what this air mass would have brought in a couple of months?
BTW Where is the Heatmiser? Usually talking trash when warm weather is a sure thing.

Freeze Warning for Austin Metro. The very center of Austin may be the only place that stays above freezing they said. A month earlier than average. Amazing!

...FREEZE WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 1 AM TO 10 AM CDT FRIDAY...
* WHAT...Sub-freezing temperatures as low as 29 expected.
* WHERE...Portions of south central Texas.
* WHEN...From 1 AM to 10 AM CDT Friday.
* IMPACTS...Frost and freeze conditions will kill crops, other
sensitive vegetation and possibly damage unprotected outdoor

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS... In addition to covering your plants and
pipes remember to bring your outdoor pets in overnight and check
on people to make sure they have a warm place to shelter from
the cold.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold. To prevent

Austin, Texas (KXAN) — Many areas northwest of Austin woke up to their first freeze of autumn this morning, several weeks ahead of normal. Gusty north winds keep high temperatures in the mid-50s today — the coolest Halloween Day in Austin since 1991, and second-coolest in history.
Trick or treat plans this evening will feature calmer winds, clear skies and temperatures falling into the 40s after 7 p.m. Be sure to include warm clothes in your Halloween costume.

Nearly everyone will see an early autumn freeze tonight as temperatures fall even further. Austin is expected to see its first official freeze at Camp Mabry more than one month earlier than average. Austin’s first average freeze is December 6th, though most other Central Texas locations usually freeze by Thanksgiving or before.
Efficient radiational cooling sets up to allow temperatures to fall below freezing everywhere except possibly the very center of Austin. Protect pets, pipes, plants and people tonight area-wide to err on the safe side.
In-Depth: Radiational cooling is when heat escapes from the surface of the Earth into space overnight in the absence of sunlight. Efficient cooling conditions include clear skies, calm winds and dry air.
Cool, dry weather continues for the Formula One U.S. Grand Prix this weekend at Circuit of the Americas. Attendees may need a light jacket both days with sunshine, breezy winds and temperatures in the 50s and 60s.
