Radar still seems to suggest the cap will hold Harris County and points South.

Of course, Beaumont will have an extra hour or two of sun to try to bust through the cap. And, of course, Beaumont is also a tad further North than Houston, and eyeball extrapolating the line may get into the storm action.

I dunno about that - in the last few frames it looks like the cap may be finally breaking...

Just looked outside towards the NW and there is a solid line of white puffy TCU quickly building into storms.

Looks quite garden variety Harris County and Southward.

But it looks like my lawn probably got a nice 10 or 15 minute shower.

Hmm, the storms headed in this direction are strengthening quite a bit, and spawning quite a few warnings. The storms are quickly approaching, but the sun is still shining here.

They still have time to weaken though.

Nothing severe here (at least yet), but it got dark really fast and it's been raining heavily for about 15 - 20 minutes so far. Some loud thunder boomers as well.

It's raining cats and dogs, mon.

Six tenths at DWH, one tenth at IAH so far, my house is about in between.

If we got three tenths, I can probably push off watering for another few days.

Just some lingering light stuff now, but ended up with over 2 inches of rain here. Nothing severe... just good soaking thunderstorms. My yard looks like a lake, but at least I got my new sidewalk last month. No more trampling through the mud or going through standing water over a sunken sidewalk.... woohoo!

Keep an eye out, Frick. They still look pretty strong as they trek toward you. Baseball games for tonight were canceled, and I'm sure the ones for tomorrow morning will be canceled as well. Sleep in?

It is nice and cool out now. A great change from the warm, muggy weather of the last couple of days. :)

I was outside earlier enjoying the warm air. It suddenly got very still and then the wind started up with much cooler air! It was really neat!

Darn it :grr: Red to my north, red to my south and i'm green. I can hear the thunder. Mother Nature is teasing me and i don't like it one bit! :grr: :grr: :grr:

I had about .60 when I checked this afternoon but we still had some light-moderate rain after that for awhile. I'm too lazy to trudge outside and get the final total but it's probably close to .65-.70.

Edited: I can almost see this wx station from my house it's so close and they had .70"

Well, today was cooler than expected. NWS predicted a high of 75F for here today. High was 63F and now on its way back down... currently 61F. Also only reached a high of 66F down at the airport.

They've lowered tonight's lows quite a few degrees as well... now in the 40's. We just might need jackets at the ballpark tonight... brrr. :P

If the front stalling nearby and the passing troughs don't trigger some decent rain South of I-10, down towards Victoria and points inland, than I suspect a dry pattern may be starting that will have me using the sprinkler more than I'd want. Even in Houston, the cap never really broke, all the showers (I heard no thunder) was along and behind the front.

The good news, I'm guesstimating from nearby obs and what I saw, a half to one inch of rain at my house yesterday in Northern Harris County, more than in a couple of weeks, and the sprinkler won't be needed until at least mid-week.

I have not seen much rain here in a couple months kinda feels drought like. Lately the TV mets have been saying there is a cap over the houston area can anyone explain?
