THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN SPRINGFIELD HAS ISSUED A

* TORNADO WARNING FOR...
NORTHERN NEWTON COUNTY IN SOUTHWEST MISSOURI...
SOUTHERN JASPER COUNTY IN SOUTHWEST MISSOURI...

* UNTIL 615 PM CDT.

* AT 533 PM CDT...THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE WAS TRACKING A
CONFIRMED TORNADO
6 MILES WEST OF BAXTER SPRINGS MOVING
EAST AT 40 MPH.

* THE TORNADO WILL BE NEAR...
IRON GATES BY 600 PM CDT.
SAGINAW...LEAWOOD...SHOAL CREEK DRIVE AND SILVER CREEK BY 605 PM
CDT.
6 MILES SOUTH OF DUQUESNE AND 7 MILES SOUTH OF DUENWEG BY 610 PM
CDT.
DIAMOND AND 8 MILES NORTHWEST OF GRANBY BY 615 PM CDT.

THE TOWNS OF CLIFF VILLAGE...REDINGS MILL...DENNIS ACRES AND SHOAL
CREEK ESTATES ARE ALSO IN THE PATH OF THIS TORNADIC STORM. THIS ALSO
INCLUDES INTERSTATE 44 BETWEEN MILE MARKERS 1 AND 31.

IN ADDITION TO A TORNADO...THIS STORM IS CAPABLE OF PRODUCING LARGE
DAMAGING HAIL UP TO BASEBALL SIZE...AND DESTRUCTIVE STRAIGHT LINE
WINDS IN EXCESS OF 70 MPH.

THIS TORNADO WARNING REPLACES THE SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING THAT
WAS IN EFFECT FOR THE SAME AREA. GO TO A BASEMENT OR SMALL INTERIOR
ROOM ON THE LOWEST FLOOR.

THE SAFEST PLACE TO BE DURING A TORNADO IS IN A BASEMENT. GET UNDER A
WORKBENCH OR OTHER PIECE OF STURDY FURNITURE. IF NO BASEMENT IS
AVAILABLE...SEEK SHELTER ON THE LOWEST FLOOR OF THE BUILDING IN AN
INTERIOR HALLWAY OR ROOM SUCH AS A CLOSET. USE BLANKETS OR PILLOWS TO
COVER YOUR BODY AND ALWAYS STAY AWAY FROM WINDOWS.

IF IN MOBILE HOMES OR VEHICLES...EVACUATE THEM AND GET INSIDE A
SUBSTANTIAL SHELTER. IF NO SHELTER IS AVAILABLE...LIE FLAT IN THE
NEAREST DITCH OR OTHER LOW SPOT AND COVER YOUR HEAD WITH YOUR HANDS.

Impressive cell bearing down on Jonesboro, no reports though..

And tornado reported 17 minutes ago near Chetopa, KS.

CONTINUED TO TRACK A VERY DANGEROUS TORNADO.
THIS TORNADIC STORM WAS
LOCATED NEAR PICHER...MOVING EAST AT 40 MPH. A TORNADO HAS BEEN
CONFIRMED...TAKE COVER NOW!

SOME LOCATIONS NEAR THE PATH OF THIS STORM INCLUDE...QUAPAW AND

This is amazing how fast these storms have developed this afternoon. Just an hour or so ago I could see the cloud tops from Norman.....MGC

Large tornado at Quapaw, OK.

The tv coverage is showing a very well defined hook in Craighead County, Arkansas.

Confirmed tornado on the ground east of picher oklahoma heading towards missouri

They should have gone to a high risk for OK and AR - and they should go for it.
