About eight tenths at IAH and DWH, which was most badly needed during the very dry Spring.

It got windy with sheets of heavy rain and lightning/thunder at around 4:00am this morning. Definitely enough to wake me up.

As for specific wind speeds: Hooks airport, just to my west, was gusting into the lower to middle 40s at 3:53am. I assume the winds were in a similar range here as well.

The sprinkler gets a vacation this weekend.

Brr. It is another chilly one out there this AM. I hit a low of 45.9F about 30 minutes ago, and am now up near 46.6F.

I didn't see how much we got yesterday morning, but it was quite a bit. It left standing water around here and it was actually pretty dry before. We had a tent pitched in the backyard and the tarp blew off during the worst of the storm and everything inside got soaked. :grr:

Anyway, what a chilly morning! After a low of 43F, it's currently 45F and we're headed to the ballpark in a little while. Brrr... it's always twice as cold there. lol
Fortunately, the warm-up should start quickly.... supposed to get to 81F today!

Gotta love SE TX... wrapped up in a blanket shivering at a ballgame in the morning (did this last Sat. when it was warmer), then sunbathing and BBQ'ing in shorts in the afternoon. :cheesy:

Edit at 11:45am - didn't need the blanket this morning. It warmed up nicely after 9am.... even shed the jackets. With a lot of sunshine and only the occasional breeze, it was actually a little warm out there. lol
Last night was darn chilly out there though!

Yep. We went to the Village Creek Festival... got quite a bit of sun too! It was hot enough that we bought snow cones to cool off. Yum! :D

WRF says a couple of tenths of rain today in Houston.

Lake Charles sounding is somewhat unstable, and while capped, it isn't a cap of forged steel:

The WRF seems a tad underdone on the cap strength, comparing forecast sounding to actual sounding:

But I have seen a few sprinkles, and perhaps the WRF is predicting low topped showers under the cap.

A sprinkle at the Galleria, a few small drops on the cars, not enough to wet the pavement.

Yeah, it looks like a few popcorn storms tried to get going, but most of them have fizzled-out in the last 30-min or so.

It looks like another cold front is on the way this weekend...

Sunday: A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 77.

Sunday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 61.

Monday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 79.

Monday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 57.

Tuesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 81.

...Lows are projected to be back in the comfortable 50s early next week with a drier airmass in place. I can't wait! :)

BTW: It should be noted that the GFS is hinting at even cooler weather than currently forecasted by the NWS. The 12z GFS run even shows the possibility of the lows getting back into the 40s early next week. It will be interesting to watch.

Radar shows a t-shower up towards Jasper or Newton counties, and a little shower very close to IAH airport.

I am getting a nice, heavy shower here right now. I have also heard one rumble of thunder along with the rain.

update - now getting some sharper, more frequent cracks of thunder.

Getting a few, big fat raindrops, but few and far between enough they haven't managed to wet the front walk. Pretty loud thunder, but not enough rain to matter.

Wow, this has been one good soaker! Lots of rain, lightning and even occasional gusty winds. My wireless rain gauge is down, so I cannot give an accurate rainfall total, but I would estimate that it has to have been at least 1" so far this afternoon in my area.
