not much damage here thankfully despite the gusts of up to 80mph last night... not even a tree down in my area, although roads are littered with branches and leaves...

unfortunately, Manhattan didn't fare that well... :(

It turns out my power didn't go out and instead of the winds getting even worse by daybreak, they actually calmed and stayed that way!!! This is not what the model guidance showed (except mesoscale models like the HRRR, NAM, etc.). What a bummer, nothing much happened and didn't even exceed winds that I got after some of those huge tornado outbreaks from early this year (the lows giving me those winds after the outbreak). My only high winds come from winter events like LES and winter storms but since winter is becoming a thing of the past here in general we aren't getting those really anymore. I really thought this could be my windstorm (first real one in decades) for the fall to rivial those from early years that are the tale of older generations. When will one finally happen? :sadly:

That's NOT what happened to me! Had the highest wind at 5:25 am, a personal station near me had winds (10-min sustained I believe) of 74 km/h...that would be about 83 km/h using standard conversions, or mid-tropical storm force.
