getting some nice sized flakes falling right now, the band seemed to blow up where that heavier precip fell earlier today, there are a couple of small bands still out west, I wonder if the same may happen to them?

I have learned so much reading here. I definitely won't be offering any weather tips but I may occasionally post a picture or temperature reading from southern Grayson county if that will help. Again, thank you for all everyone contributes to those of us amateur weather lovers!

Re: Texas Fall-2014
The dry (and veer cold) air is moving into San Antonio and Austin NE to DFW now. Precip is ending for those areas.

To put this into perspective, Fort Worth NWS just put this out:
PUBLIC INFORMATION STATEMENT

PRECIPITATION BEFORE THANKSGIVING...INCLUDING 2014.
THE SLEET LAST WEEK ON NOVEMBER 13 WAS THE EARLIEST OCCURRENCE OF
WINTRY PRECIPITATION IN A SEASON SINCE A TRACE OF SNOW WAS RECORDED
ON OCTOBER 29, 1993.
THE LAST TIME THERE WAS A MEASURABLE SNOWFALL IN NOVEMBER WAS
THANKSGIVING 1993 (0.3 INCHES OF SLEET AND SNOW).

I'm pulling for the cold wx. I can still win our first freeze contest if it freezes at IAH tonight on tomorrow night. Pretty good chance of that. After that, I'll take my mid 90s again. Unfortunately, I'm thinking that the winter of 1976-1977 is a good analog for this winter. Extremely cold one east of the rockies. Mississippi River froze down to St. Louis and New Orleans reported ice in the river. Snowed in Miami that winter...
I say you keep your avatar this winter

Tonight counts as today's freeze (it was not freezing this morning) which makes it the 4th freeze at DFW, 5th freeze coming tomorrow morning (technically a few hours) which ties 2013's 5 freezes last year. Tuesday morning will be the 6th. Average first freeze is November 22nd

Looks like we were right in thinking that the snow would make it through North Texas and into East Texas. Accumulating snow in November is awesome. Hoping for more around Thanksgiving.

Cold, wet afternoon up here in the Red River Valley.
Feels like mid-January.
I stepped outside with the dog around 9:45pm tonight.
I felt like I should go skiing!

Looks like the heaviest of this band is between I20 and I30 which is perfect for me. Less than an hour before my first flakes of the year, it better not die off.

Well played, sir! Here's my old photo from two winters past, from the same snowfall you also made a message out of for our resident heatmiser on your car's window.

Have gotten some light snow so far, more to come though. Hoping for at least a .1". It is nice to see my forecast of the past 11 days verify, it was a close call and the models sure planted some doubts. I doubt this is the only one we get this season with how we are set up. I am love seeing the 1976/77 analogs.

No, not really. The evening forecast discussion out of EWX speaks to the possibility and it is very remote at best. Don't worry Wntrwthrguy, I'm confident we'll have a few opportunities of our own coming this winter.
