FWD mentioned they are getting more concerned with some overnight tornadoes across the forecast area. Also, the latest HRRR would be two rounds of storms for portions of DFW with some storms firing east of 35 later on before the main line moves through.

Area avg. sounding for HR20 shows CAPE of 2,000+ for DFW, with a stout cap still in place. Also, that sounding
above might be contaminated, since the area avg sounding shows a larger cap and drier mid-levels. With that said, the 12z HREF does show some decent updrafts moving across DFW late tonight.

Using modeled qpf as a proxy, basically all the hi-res 12z guidance shows an increase in storm chances/intensity for DFW.

Still over night timing with this or earlier?

Y'all ready for the storms tonight?

Have a place to go to in case there is a Tornado Warning (I have a Storm Shelter ready to go), NWS radio ready & on standby & maintain situlational awareness, being calm is key to stay organized, prevent panic mode & help you out in the near-future in case of future storms . . .

Storms look to fire much farther west along the dryline than the thinking earlier today.

That usually means that the Atmosphere has more time bringing in even more unstable moist air from the GOM.

Meanwhile in the Texas Panhandle, it’s still full fledged wintertime.

Numerous reports on Twitter of near whiteout conditions, a blizzard warning, heavy snow, lots of drifts, roads closed around Amarillo and other parts of the region, plenty of accidents, and very high winds strong enough to knock down a 130' Radio tower in Borger.

And as the spring blizzard continues to plague the Texas Panhandle at midday, the St. Patrick’s Day tornado outbreak appears to be underway now in Mississippi and Alabama where there are currently two PDS tornado watches and three tornado warnings...

SPC doesn't have anything highlighted in the 4 - 8 Day range but models show a very active pattern coming up for Texas. Also, more snow for the Panhandle.

I had a little bit of rain yesterday, but only around 0.1 inches. I could use 1-2 inches sometime soon so I can spread some fertilizer for trees and grass.

Maybe you’re seeing something that I’m not but the CPC and the models that I see show most of the rain east of Texas.

We're already in moderate drought down here. We just got back from West Texas/Big Bend/Alpine area yesterday. Windy as all get out when we got there Saturday (60mph gusts). Felt it on the SUV! LOTS of caliche road driving. Vehicle looks like it's been through some tough terrain.lol. Tires caked.
Some stranger said something about it, smiling ("Look at the fines!") Gunna get it washed today, along with undercarriage.

One of the locals there said they are in a bad drought out there. I could tell, even though it is a desert. It sprinkled on us Tuesday. Looks like they are in extreme to exceptional drought out there.

Keep in mind though High QPF and severe weather don't always correlate. In fact when you see the models show a severe weather setup but don't necessarily show high amounts of QPF, that can sometimes be indicative that the models are seeing a setup more favorable for discreet supercells.

East Texas temps this morning range from 40 down to 31. Hope most don't have tender plants in the ground yet.
