New watch will be coming out soon for the Metroplex northeastward toward Ft. Smith, Arkansas. Threat continues here overnight. Cells across N. Texas definitely are getting their act together.

No reason to yet. This situation is nothing out of the ordinary so far.

The tornado threat looks to be diminishing which is good so I can sleep without worry tonight. I'm just north of Tulsa...

Tornado threat is NOT diminishing for your area. New storms should fire to the west, and given good helicity values and marginal instability, any storms rooted in the boundary layer could produce. Sure, SPC has a severe tstorm watch out... oh wait didn't Evansville occur during a severe tstorm watch? Gist is conditions will get more favorable, interestingly, during the middle of the night, as the best lift comes along, from 6-12Z, so do not let down your guard.

Where'd you get that?

The info I saw (granted its been 2 hours) showed a weaking lift pattern and a linear line of storms with the odds of embedded tornadic activity being quite low

If this has changed I'd like a link...I dont have a weather radio so I may keep one of my PC's up and on NOAA...

I do not know where you are getting the best info, but that doesn't make sense, sense weakening lift steers away from a linear line of storms. Look at the sups in northwest TX. More will develop in southern OK as the night progresses. Be aware and vigilent, as wx247 mentioned, weather can be fickle.

THE SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WILL OTHERWISE REMAIN OVER MAINLY RURAL
AREAS OF THE INDICATED COUNTY - sounds like an F0 if it forms. However, we may not luck out with every tornado that could form tonight! All we can do is pray that they stay in cornfields and not in communities!

There is no way to know if there will even be a tornado, let alone an F0.

In addition... a new Tornado Watch has been issued across Central Texas... this stays north of Houston, but does include Austin.

Also, we should be getting a new watch for the Arklatex soon.

Keywords: if it forms.

I saw the new Tornado Watch 44, and yes, Tornado Watch 45 should be issued soon for the Arklatex area. They should also consider at least a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for the area around the mouth of the Ohio River...

It could be a long Thursday...I wouldn't be surprised to see major activity from central Michigan all the way to the Gulf of Mexico as it expands out and daytime heating becomes a factor as well...

Looks like things are getting their act together and then some out towards Austin and San Antonio. I don't see any reason why these won't hold together once approaching Southeast, Texas. It looks like we will get hit by a good squall line in the early morning hours. Of course I'm a weather junkie so I won't be getting much sleep tonight. lol

1137 PM CST WED MAR 8 2006

...A LATE-NIGHT TORNADO EPISODE IS POSSIBLE...

THIS OUTLOOK IS FOR NORTHWEST AND WEST CENTRAL ARKANSAS AS WELL AS
MUCH OF EASTERN OKLAHOMA.

.DAY ONE...TODAY AND TONIGHT.
TORNADO.
RISK...SIGNIFICANT.
AREA....ALONG AND SOUTH OF I-44 IN OKLAHOMA AND ALL OF
NORTHWEST AND WEST CENTRAL ARKANSAS.
ONSET....AFTER 3AM.

AREA AT GREATEST RISK...LE FLORE...PUSHMATAHA...
AND CHOCTAW COUNTIES.

SEVERE THUNDERSTORM.
RISK...SIGNIFICANT.
AREA...EASTERN OKLAHOMA AND NORTHWEST AND WEST-CENTRAL ARKANSAS.
ONSET...NOW.

AREA AT GREATEST RISK...ALONG AND SOUTH OF I-44 IN OKLAHOMA AND
AND ALL OF NORTHWEST AND WEST CENTRAL ARKANSAS.

DISCUSSION...
A SURFACE BOUNDARY WAS DEVELOPING ACROSS SOUTHWEST ARKANSAS...FAR SOUTHEAST
OKLAHOMA AND NORTH TEXAS. AS A STRONG UPPER-LEVEL SYSTEM SWEEPS OUT
INTO THE PLAINS OVERNIGHT A PRIMARY LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM WILL MOVE ACROSS
EASTERN OKLAHOMA AND NORTHWEST ARKANSAS. A SECONDARY SMALL SCALE LOW
CENTER IS EXPECTED TO TRACK DOWN THE BOUNDARY ACROSS FAR SOUTHEAST OKLAHOMA.
THE ATMOSPHERE IS EXPECTED TO BECOME INCREASINGLY UNSTABLE TONIGHT AHEAD
OF THE SURFACE LOWS AND WIND PROFILES WILL BE VERY FAVORABLE FOR SEVERE
THUNDERSTORMS.

WIDESPREAD THUNDERSTORM ACTIVITY WILL OCCUR IN THE REGION OVERNIGHT WITH
SUPERCELLS AND LINE SEGMENTS. LARGE HAIL AND DAMAGING WINDS WILL OCCUR
WITH THE STORMS.

IF THE SOUTHERN BOUNDARY CONTINUES TO EXIST OVERNIGHT...IT WOULD BECOME
THE FOCUS FOR LONG-LIVED SUPERCELL STORMS WITH THE RISK OF A STRONG
TORNADO. ANY SHIFT EITHER NORTH OF SOUTH OF THIS BOUNDARY WILL ALSO
SHIFT THE GREATEST TORNADO THREAT AND ALL INTERESTS SHOULD MONITOR
THE EVOLUTION OF THIS SITUATION CLOSELY.

SPOTTER AND EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT ACTION STATEMENT...
EMERGENCY MANAGERS AND STORM SPOTTERS SHOULD BE READY OF AN EXTENDED
PERIOD OF ACTIVATION TONIGHT AND BE READY FOR THE POSSIBILITY OF A
SIGNIFICANT SEVERE WEATHER EPISODE.
