Jason are you seeing rotation in the hook off to the west of Hwy 6, just north of IH10?

Lost power for a few minutes. YIKES!! The cells from our West in Waller county appear to be merging with the existing severe storms in west Harris county. David, it's gonna be a while for you.

I know what that feels like. Sounds a lot like the hail storm I saw a year ago. We got three rounds and it lasted for 30-60 minutes. Seemed like it would never stop!

What is the damage status in your area right now?

Continuous lighting under the Bear Creek Dome and heavy rain. Street is filled up... I feel like I'm back in Kansas again.

Looking at the radar loop, I think it'll be done here in a short time. Now for David, you got a ways to go yet...

We had some 40-50 mph gusts. Heard a few pings of hail but nothing major. Storm reports show 1.75" hail just a couple of miles form here.

David, one time in Lubbock I got hail from 5 seperate cells in April 1997 (there were 14 tornadoes on the South Plains that night). I probably had hail falling for about an hour total between the 5 storms. I've never seen anything close to it since.

Here are some radar shots in the last 30 min. One shows some real intense stuff by the airport:

I would expect a flood warning soon for at least Harris:

jschlitz - when this even is over, will you please start a new thread and tell me (and others with declining minds!) how to capture the radar images you've been getting? Really nice job for posterity by the way - thanks!

It's not a true hook. It's an illusion as the storm from the NW merged with the one already there, it generated a hook-like signature on radar. It's linear.

well the storms have moved on off from my area without dumping any hail. However, heavy rain, lightning and a burst of 50-60mph winds that lasted 1-3 minutes sure made this an exciting night. The wind even did some minor damages in this area. Can't wait to see what daylight brings.

There is a brand new cell popping up west of here & also near Sugar Land.

OH - Fox 26 did it again - this time the "Doctor". He said radar estimated 9" on rain in NW Harris County.

I'm sure quite a chunk of that was hail contamination.

Lots of rain fell and plenty of lightning. NWS Doppler radar estimates up to 6 inches of rain fell.

It's hard to see it unless you loop - but the outflow is really pushing SE in the SE part of Harris County and it is wrapped into a Meso-Low forming up near Kingwood:

I'm also getting new rumbles of thunder here now...

Thanks Jen! I tried to post earlier but that's when the board went kaput.

Anyway, I use GRLevel3 with many, many, many hours of customization to get it to look that way. I also pay for the Allisonhouse data subscription.
