Pretty good agreement on the 12z models for some very beneficial rains out in West Texas and the Panhandle over the next week.

2nd Stop on the way back is Spanish Fort, Alabama! Clear Skies and the high was 90°F near Tallahassee, FL on I-10
I'm glad that I'm going to miss out the mini Heatwave in the Southern Plains.

Re: Texas Spring 2022
That's an impressive looking MCS on the 18z 3k NAM with tops approaching -80, would be big for those areas out there that are really struggling with drought.

Abilene looked so brown. Usually a bit of green out there, but it looked as brown as Midland when I lived there. I hope West TX can get some rain.

Still 80 here at midnight
feels more like mid to late July. I'm afraid it's gonna be a long summer

Lucky few may see some showers mostly west. Heatwave continues, weekend relief seems limited on euro and gfs which have backed off on trough cutting into southern plains, instead to our north and east. Sonoran ridge takes over after.
The recent wet areas of the state have managed to stay away from 100 (low to mid 90s) but dewpoints in the 70s, feels like 100 anyway.
+30s daily soi again, haven't seen a single negative reading since opening days of April. Wish there was better news #neversummer but honest reality doesn't look too good.

Re: Texas Spring 2022
Low chance of storms firing off the dryline today. However, guidance that does fire storms tracks them into DFW. So very low chance we might see some action today

Re: Texas Spring 2022
Well I'm back in Dallas after a two week vacation seeing my family in southern Sweden. The weather was absolutely perfect there. Sunshine and about 60 degrees every day, about 50 degrees at night.... No rain at all. Spring is blossoming over there with trees budding out, flowers everywhere, just a gorgeous perfect time of year to visit. We also spent a day in London, a city that blew me away with how incredible it is, and the weather there was perfect too.
I could see the air as we landed in Dallas. Hazy and thick
I don't want to be here anymore

I am not a meteorologist, and any posts made by me are not official forecasts or to be interpreted as being intelligent. These posts are just my opinions and are probably silly opinions.

Re: Texas Spring 2022
Looks to me like this pattern isn't going anywhere for a while. More of a summer pattern now with all the storms way to the north while we roast down here, and that doesn't look like it's going to change anytime soon except for tomorrow in SW TX. GFS doesn't even hint at any kind of storm setup here until around 5/20 which is so far out it'll probably be gone by the next run. Maybe we could at least have a decent summer MCS season this year but right now it's not looking good in terms of rain/storms. Obviously things can change quickly and there's still a long way to go for the month but yikes the next couple weeks are looking brutal.
At least the first week of May had some good rain/storms...

Re: Texas Spring 2022
From this afternoon's FWD AWD:
------
The heat will ramp up early next week as a mid-level high builds
over northern Mexico/SW Texas. This pattern usually creates a
period of unusually hot weather and this should be no different.
We could also see our first 100 degree day at some point next
week. For DFW, the probability of meeting or exceeding 100F
increases each day from Saturday onward...increasing from 6% on
Saturday to 46% on Wednesday. While 46% may sound like a low
probability, getting that kind of consensus on day 9 of model
guidance is statistically meaningful. Guidance on the cooler end
of the spectrum does indicate a more active period with a weaker
ridge, however those solutions seem to be outliers at this point.
------
Can we just fast-forward to October and be done with it? I'm already picturing yards going dormant, cracks in the ground big enough to sprain your ankles, and dry lakes with water temps approaching 90.

Delkus posted sarcastically the next front will be October 12th
Might not be a bad guess tbh

Re: Texas Spring 2022
With all the complaints, maybe someone should just kill this thread. Lol. On a different note, the people I feel for the most when it comes to dry weather are farmers and people who mow lawns for business. The effects from drought are devastating to them.
