Re: SE TX/SW LA weather: Lots of tropical moisture... rain!
We had some heavy rains this morning and then again this afternoon and it's still raining outside. We've had at least an 1.5" today and the ground is completely saturated. Looks like high rains chances through Monday then drying out a bit but another tropical surge later in the week to continue our very wet pattern.

I know Yank. I pressure washed the sidelwalks/yard work again, and the dogs swam in the pool.
Tomorrow looks "interesting" though.

We had a couple of really ominous lightening engulfed, horizonal rain storms come through today. We are soaked but draining well with good spacing between the storms to allow for runoff. Prime flea and mosquitoe breeding weather.

Two T-storm warnings for different parts of Harris County. Got chased from a church picnic near the veteran's cemetery about two hours ago by heavy rain, been hearing thunder ever since, no rain here yet, but radar suggests that is about to change near Veterans Memorial and 1960.

Glad you got some rain Jason. Finally! Yank, there was lightning and wind and enough of a "shower" to wet the pool decking.

Re: SE TX/SW LA weather: Lots of tropical moisture... rain!
We finally got a good old fashioned thunderstorm with winds gusting in the 40 mph range and tons of lightning and a good long downpour and some nice lingering rain afterwards. Got 0.67" here at the house. Much needed!! No watering for several days now probably!!Woohoo!!

Thunder at the Galleria, clouds are somewhat dark but not ominous, rain to the South by visual observation doesn't look heavy, but w/ thunder, I'd guess it is increasing in intensity.
Just checked radar, rain is East of me, hence I don't see it.

Same here since I am on W side of bldg. Clouds are trying to look ominous, but it is only scud. Whole storm is moving E-W on radar. Could give good rain to most of "central" Houston.

Have a great Holiday Weekend!!
Things might get interesting next week. Morning update from Jeff Lindner:
Things might get interesting next week. Morning update from Jeff Lindner:
Fairly straightforward forecast through the 4th of July weekend given only minor changes in the upper level pattern. High PWS air mass will remain mainly along and S of I-10 where greatest chances for showers and thunderstorms will reside daily given morning surface heating. Chances may be more limited over the weekend as ridging to the west attempts to build eastward a tad.
Main concern this morning is the extended and what to do with potential NW Gulf of Mexico tropical low formation early to middle next week. GFS is very aggressive in developing a broad area of surface to mid level low pressure over the NW Gulf of Mexico early next week and moving this system slowly N to NNW into SE TX and the coast bend resulting in very impressive QPF and likely flooding rains. EURO and other models are not as bullish with either any kind of surface feature nor the moisture pool and maintain more of an inverted trough. Very close watch is needed on this period given potential for 2.2-2.5 inch PWS to move into the coast and possible tropical system organization.
