Check out the Gulf of Mexico. Local news station KFDM has higher rain chances this weekend than NWS. That's a lot of rain!

Looks like just in time for the fireworks the rain might be in the area.... We have a 50% as per the NWS and a 40% tomorrow as per the NWS. Its nice out there now, and kinda muggy... Oh well! Hope everyone has a great 4th of July!! :flag: :flag: :flag: :flag: :flag: :flag: :flag:

The radar shows a definite outflow boundary from some collapsing storms which of course will at least cause some hit and miss storms/showers in SE TX, but it doesn't appear that the huge slug of rain will move into this area till at least sometime tomorrow if not even later that that. Of course this thought process is slightly tainted with the fact we are headed to a big outdaoor bar-b-q and fierworks get together at my son's later today.

We didn't get a bit of rain yesterday after two days with about 1.5" total. Daughter in Copperfield said they got quite a rain yesterday.

We got about 0.3" rain before noon today at my house in Angleton, with about 0.6" on the 1st and 0.3" on the 2nd. so July is starting out better rainwise than June did. Rain totals in June in the greater Houston area varied all over the place: Pearland, (Clover) 8.04"; Hobby, 4.57"; Clear Lake, 3.86: Tomball (Hooks), 3.57; Huntsville, 3.00; Angleton 2.36; Bay City, 2.31, Houston (IAH) 2.06; Lake Jackson (Sugar Mill) 1.98"; Sugar Land (Hull), 1.89"; Deer Park 1.85"; Galveston 1.77" ; and Conroe, 1.66". Some places west of the Houston area did worse: Brenham got 1.34"; Austin 0.79"; Corpus Christi 0.70" Victoria, 0.12" and San Antonio 0.01" for the month of June.

Lots of rain at Jamaica Beach yesterday, but they had been quite dry. Rain let up enough (light rain from a middle cloud deck) to allow surf fishing. Whiting and hardheads biting in waist deep surf on shrimp.

Doesn't look like rain made it to the house.

Today is lawn mowing day, if no rain by tomorrow, tomorrow will be sprinkler day.

That area of convection has been persistant for days now. I wonder if anything could develop out of it, which has been discussed at Talkin' Tropics.

I would just like some rain over here. It's been so dry lately (except for a few storms every once in a while).

Sea breeze fired up a nice storm yesterday just as I was finishing up mowing. Perfect.

Hey Yankee! Was it soupy in West Houston today or what? If I could have gotten away with no clothing in my own pool today I would have done it -too many neighbors around though.

Looks like that rain tonight is going to stay down around Matagorda Bay. Oh well, guess I'll be dragging the water hose out tomorrow...

While we've had fairly regular showers and thunderstorms in my area, it mainly stayed dry over the weekend. Very low chances of rain today and only rising to 30% or so Tuesday and Wednesday before a big high sets up over the area and a ton of dry air moves in from the south. Temps might easily rise to the upper 90's this weekend with little to no rain chances (yuck). Hopefully we'll get a good soaking before the heat sets in or we'll be getting really dry by Sunday.

It's ironic how a little over a week ago we were in a wet period that looked to persist well into July. Amazing how things can change so drastically. I enjoy the summertime thunderstorms in the area as it makes things interesting and the heat tolerable. I absolutely hate the scorching heat and dryness, makes me start counting down the days til fall!
