Just breaking here for a few minutes. Tried to call into SIL's place but no answer. Betting phone lines are down. Will try again later, leaving phone lines & cell open for EMS traffic right now.

On the backside of all of this, plenty of destruction too from this wicked spring storm system.

Sunset, Texas (I have a good friend, a taxidermist, who lives just east of there) was severely damaged today with WFAA.com reporting a couple of dozen homes being wiped out. Stoneburg, just to the north, also had plenty of wildfire damage. Homes also burned near Archer City, Texas and a couple of businesses burned near Electra, Texas.

I read somewhere that Parkland Hospital in Dallas is treating a couple of burn victims including a Montague County man who reportedly had to run for his life after the flames advanced (I think the report said his truck exploded). And a fireman in Oklahoma was being treated in an Oklahoma City hospital after being burned.

In Oklahoma, it's pretty bad too. I-35 has been closed with other highways (one has had a 6 1/2 mile fire burning on both sides of it). Lindsay had a dozen structures burn, Choctaw about 20. More than a dozen wildfires were burning at one point in Carter County with a lot of damage and evacuations reported. And NewsOk.com is still reporting 100 homes destroyed or damaged in Midwest City.

Saw a report (on another forum) of one possible fatality in Mena, Ark. where major damage is reported.

Any word on DeQueen where another direct hit was reported earlier tonight?

Just saw a report on KSLA's Web site of a report of four people injured in a trailer park in DeQueen hit by high winds or a tornado.

One two-story structure in Cass County, Texas also reportedly had its second floor blown off.

KFSM in Fort Smith/Fayetteville has a story where it is reported by Mena residents that multiple buildings were destroyed, the County Courthouse took a direct hit, and the hospital was reportedly damaged badly enough that patients were being evacuated from it.

A Fayetteville, Ark. TV reporter says that the downtown area of Mena looks like it was "put into a blender and spit out."

A blogger on a TV site reports that there is significant damage to at least 1/3 of the city. Another said just about everything north of the KCS (?) railroad was severely damaged.

I'm hearing from some people on another site also say that atleast a third of the city is destroyed. They say that by the looks of the neighborhoods, that there has to be many fatalities.

Also heard that in Shreveport a mentally ill woman is wondering the streets covered in chocolate. Atleast that's what the officer thinks he smells.

Tree on fire due to down lines near a funeral home.
