about the cost being roughly a penny a character per transmission. At Clark AB, we had to put out a PADIZ forecast that divided the area around the Philippines into 4 sectors. Things could get very lengthy when there was a Typhoon NE of the islands and a Monsoon surge across the southern sectors even with Contractions. There's another reason why Forecasters like to use Contractions-they are our unique language and it sets us apart from others in the Community-if you note, I'm sure you will also HEAR Forecasters using Contractions when they talk about weather situations. I know I still do from time to time.
