Heavy Rain in the East!

Rain has now moved offshore...it is no more...

Still raining on Cape Cod. No accurate numbers, but LOTS of rain.

Some flooding in Western Massachusetts and southern New Hampshire.

I saw that parts of western Mass also had over 8" of rain. I think I saw that this morning.

River here is down quite a bit, but not back where it belongs yet.

The Susquehanna stayed in its banks, its a mile wide at Harrisburg so it can accomodate a lot of water, though it is pretty shallow though. You can walk clear across in quite a few places. The Conestoga in Lancaster Co. crested at 18 feet though at Lancaster, which is a major flood stage for them.

It's deja vu all over again.........( to quote Yogi, I believe)

River is rising again, tarp shifted and roof is leaking again.......Only problem is now the forcast is for near record flooding. OOPS! better not cry, we don't need any more moisture around here!

And I wonder, still I wonder, who'll stop the rain?

Hey, weathermom, how have you fared?

Breeze- thanks so much for asking! We are doing ok. River is up about as far as it was on Saturday, maybe 15 feet from the house. So far so good. Heard a rumor that they were going to evacuate everyone on our side of the river (only one way in and out), but hasn't happened so far. I have seen the river higher and they didn't close the bridge that time, so maybe we will be able to stay.

Some of the problem in town comes from a flood control project that the army corp of engineers is doing. They dredged the river and that helped in the beginning, but now they are installing flood gates at the dam. They had to restrict the flow and it really messed things up on the river. Last storm damaged the dam and they had to do repairs so now the project is behind schedule. :roll

Hopefully the rain will ease off ( it hasn't been too bad the last couple of hours), and it won't come up any further. Though the forecast crest is still higher than anything we have seen before. Let's hope they are wrong!!!

The storm is SUPPOSED to be moving away. By Monday New England should be in the sunshine. I'm supposed to have sunshine by tomorrow afternoon. Today's forecast is for scattered showers. Perhaps they are right because down here in Atlantic City, we're not getting the wind-blown pouring rains that we've had for the past two days. A classic Nor'easter for us! The back bays were rough like the ocean.

I was in Rehobeth, DE this weekend shopping at the outlets. The weather was PERFECT!! The outlets were crowded, especially on Saturday. I think everyone just wanted to get the heck outside.
