Let's see, we missed all the rain on Friday night and now what looked to be a decent shot at rain next weekend has fizzled because the system will be too far north. Basically no chance of rain for the next 10 days at least around here. This is getting ridiculous.

NWS Lake Charles:
RAIN CHANCES FOR THE WEEKEND APPEARING LESS AND LESS LIKELY WITH
EAST PAC TROF NOW PROGGED TO LIFT WELL NORTH OF THE AREA BY GFS
AND ECMWF. 00Z DGEX WAS THE ONLY OUTLIER HERE...AND NOW 06Z RUN HAS
COME INTO LINE WITH THE OTHERS. WILL LEAVE 20 POP ALONE FOR NOW
WITH GFS SHOWING A FAIRLY DECENT LEAD VORT MAX CROSSING THE AREA
SATURDAY...BUT THE OVERRIDING THEME OF THIS FORECAST WAS...AND
STILL IS...DRY AND WARM.

We received about 3 minutes of rain from that system. Why are we so darn dry? Is it because of La Nina? Usually we have this in June or July, not April and CERTAINLY not for this length of time!! :grr:

After some early spring rains, things have been getting drier and drier in DFW. NWS mentions it today as a disturbing trend. Same thing happened last year. Our normal rainy season failed to produce rain. At least we got something to fill-up some reservoirs though. It could be worse.

Drought like conditions continue here, it doesn't seem like there will be rain. I mean my plants are so thirsty they drink all of the morning dew before 10:00 am.

Seems like we'll either see a good rain or we won't. The NWS doesn't seem overly confident. Let's just hope their being cautious as we're now in an extreme drought.

AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE LAKE CHARLES LA

.DISCUSSION...
ONE MORE QUIET WEATHER DAY BEFORE THINGS COULD GET INTERESTING.

WILL BE KEEPING SCATTERED POPS IN THE FORECAST FOR FRIDAY...BUT
STILL HAVE LOW CONFIDENCE IN THIS BEING A LARGE RAIN MAKER. SEVERE
WEATHER THREAT WILL BE MORE LIKELY THE FURTHER NORTH AND EAST YOU
GO...SO NOT PLANNING ON ANY ADDITIONAL WORDING FOR SEVERE THREAT
AT THIS POINT.

TEMPERATURES WILL BE AROUND 3-5 DEGREES COOLER THIS WEEKEND BEHIND
THE FRONT.

THE NEXT CHANCE OF RAIN COMES IN LATE TUESDAY OR WEDNESDAY. STILL
EARLY TO SAY EXACTLY HOW MUCH RAIN WE WILL GET...BUT AT LEAST
THERE IS SOMETHING TO LOOK FORWARD TO TO HELP ALLEVIATE THE
DROUGHT. LATEST DROUGHT INDICATORS FROM CPC NOW SHOW THE ENTIRE
REGION IN AN EXTREME DROUGHT.

Dang...they just updated it. Extreme SE TX is in Extreme now too. Not really surprised as we have a fresh burn ban this morning. geez...I hope we get some rain out of this system! It's been fizzling out or just missing us with each opportunity lately.

I don't remember ever being in an Extreme drought before. All I can say is please let it rain tomorrow, I don't care if it's severe as long as water falls from the sky! My water bill is outrageous trying to keep my yard and plants looking healthy and I know the farmers are suffering.

Looks like we're finally going to see SOME rain. Severe thunderstorm watch just issued so I don't' think this line will weaken any. It's moving fast but we might be able to squeak out .50" of rain which would be much needed.

It was quick but at least we got some rain. Hopefully we'll have more chances next week.
