yes, there were even a few larger pieces than those in the pictures, but they had melted down by the time I went out to collect. Also, keep in mind that the above hail pictures were after about 5-10 minutes of melting! I just drove around and did not see much major car damage, but most trees have a pile of sticks and leaves under them and there are some other damaged items. The most amazing thing is the flooding! A small creek near my house (which is usually dry) is now a raging river!!! I am just glad that we did not get high winds with the hail, or else the windows and cars would have fared much worse.

We had 3 rounds of hail. In round one it was mostly dime to penny sized pieces. In round two it was dime to quarter size with a few chunks to golf ball size, and in round three it was nickel to ping pong sized with a few chunks of golf ball to tennis ball sized hail. Once again I am very glad that there was very little wind with this or else windows would likely have been smashed. I am also glad for most people in my immediate area, as they all seemed to have had their cars in the garage/ car port.cheezywxman wrote:geez! how big were they before they melted...tennis ball size?

yeah, but the overall pattern seems typical for may IMO. Itd be VERY cold for june or july if this pattern took place in june or july here in MN.
Seems like most texas storms are from instability..and less dynamics. kinda like florida, and the tornadoes sort of pop up occasionally and add up. But then again, with so little people in texas i bet a lot of tornadoes go unreported.

What?? Texas is second to most populated state, & Texas gets more Tornado's than any other state including Oklahoma....

The reason its the 2nd most populated is because of houston mainly, then dallas and san antonio. Then you factor in its huge size and you get the population. But the thing is, most of the tornadoes that occur in texas in in the barren lands of western or central texas or the panhandle. And the reason the tornado count is so high is due to the amount of storms that annually move through texas, and since any thunderstorm can produce a tornado, they occasionally put down a few day by day. But if you go by the scale of the outbreaks, places like illinois, indiana, kansas or arkansas are far more impressive outbreaks than texas.
