been lightning like crazy to my NE, since midnight, and is slowly getting larger, and closer. time now 1:25am
Starting to hear a bit of distant thunder, and the low clouds are moving very fast (north) onto the storm, the clouds higher up don't seem to be moving much at all, or drifting NW

Saw lots of lightning too last night, but no rain until I woke up this morning to hear about the flooding in Houston streets. The streets are wet out here, so it must have rained some time during my dreams. But the current radar shows most of the stuff up over central and northwest Houston, Pearland, Pasadena, and way out east near High Island. I'm hoping I beat the rain to work before it gets here again.

Fairly serious situation going on. Not quite "Allison" like, but not far off either. The SE side of Houston has and continues to be hit hard with some incredible rain rates heading towards the Pearland/Friendswood and League City areas.

If this low slides more West than South, then this could turn from bad to major trouble. Looks as if over towards Beaumont and Lake Charles is getting hit as hard as the Houston area.

It was still raining into the wee hours of the morning. Watching radar, it was like it just kept re-developing in close to the same area and hitting us over and over. I woke up a little while ago to my sister telling me that one of our friend's house is flooding! She heard one of the mets (maybe Frank Billingsley from KPRC?) explain where the high and the low was and how the setup was similar to Allison. Anyone else see that?

One of our local mets said something about it going into the GOM and then backing right back over us. Man, it's either a drought or we're flooding. I don't think we've had any rain since the last time it flooded here (first of June I think) until these heavy showers first started early Saturday.
That same met was on TV telling people to get off the road...they're driving down flooded streets pushing more water into homes. A lot of places have closed.

Any of our pro-mets want to chime in if this is coming to an end or more rain? NWS had our rain chances pretty low for today and early this morning, raised them a lot. I guess they weren't expecting this system to do whatever it is doing.

Major flooding going on as y'all know with more flooding rains possibly later on. The low is currently over Liberty County and will possibly drift off to the southwest bringing with it flooding rains. I haven't seen a drop out of it here in central Montgomery County.

I turned on the news this morning and I thought I was watching a re-run of Tropical Storm Allison.

Problem is the cut-off Low is hardly even moving. Has the Houston mets stumped as well.If it akes a more southerly movement, than we might be spared a bit, though the Golden Triangle would be in for more rain.

If it takes a more SW type of movement, then it could get awful dicey from I-10 south...

Last few images sure are strange to look at.

If I did'nt know any better, It almost looks as if a TD was forming over Liberty county on IR.

Also if there is any movement at all, it's just a drift.

you can see that the system over TX looks to be getting a bit more rotation near the end of the loop.

Scott, I was just looking at a sat pic thinking that it looked like a little tropical storm just sitting right on top of us. If you look at a long radar loop, it's amazing how it just doesn't move. Just when you think it's going to stop, it backbuilds.

I have KPRC on my satellite, so I've been switching from local channels here to KPRC in Houston. Did none of the models predict the low just sitting there? I heard Frank explaining where the two Highs were and they were trapping the Low, giving it nothing to really steer it anywhere.

Looks just like a tropical storm or depression that has made landfall to me. Very interesting system to say the least. The rain has been so close to us but not able to make it to my area. Houston area residents, send some of that this way but not the flooding! Stay safe everyone.

Actually until I received Jeff's e-mail last night, I had no idea that we were in for another round of storms. Seems like yall have received as much as the Houston area.

I don't think any the models showed this low being so vigorous. In fact, first thing this morning all four of the local mets had the low, albeit slowly, pushing out of the area by early Tuesday. Now they are not sure. Frank and David Paul *Ch 11* are concerned about a few models that have it drifting ever so slowly and even stalling again down by the Matagorda area. They both still feel that it will move enough and be out of our hair by Tuesday evening, but who knows at this point.

Sat and radar continues to look as if the convection is trying to wrap around the center, as if it is over the Gulf. Strange indeed......

Extensive flooding across the metro area. Turkey Creek has overflowed and I had to wade through thigh deep water to get home!!!!

Two (out of three) southbound lanes of the Causeway are flooded also -- that's usually very rare.

It looks like some major flooding is starting to take shape just east of Beaumont. Look at all that rain coming inland off of the gulf! It seems like it will be training over the same area for quite some time.

Looking at that radar loop, it appears that the ULL is moving closer to the coast and in the SW direction they have said it will move. If it continues on that track this whole area is more than likely in for a whole lot more rain!!!!

I just looked at radar, and it definately has a nice little spin to it... Looks like a tropical system, definatley!! I dint know how much rain we got here in west houston, I just got up, today is my day off!!!

There is enough dry air to the east, which seems to be the reason for the lack of rainfall east of beltway 8. If it tracks more to the west or SW, than we could be in for some serious rainfall....

If I'm correct this low is just north of Galveston Bay?

Looking at GRLevel3 and satellite pics, it looks to me like the low is now centered in far NE Harris County - in the wedge between Liberty and Montgomery counties. It looks like it is drifting almost due West or WSW and some showers are now forming on the north side of the circulation.

This doesn't look good. If it continues on this track, the center may end-up near the Katy or Sugar Land area overnight, which would be very bad for most of Houston.
