Personally a high of 101 today with a max HI of 97 . . . but that's because my humidity sensor never reads correctly . . . nearby at official stations the high was around 95/max HI at 101.

Oh, great. We got a fire danger adding insult to injury. A Red Flag Warning has been issued for some Northwest areas of North Texas.

Here's the AFD from Sterling (Balt/Wash). A particularly good one (at least for them) with climo and temp discussion. Also mentions that high in the Twin Cities.

AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE BALTIMORE MD/WASHINGTON DC
900 PM EDT MON JUL 31 2006

.UPDATE...ONLY THING I DID W/ THE MET PORTION OF THE UPDATE WAS TO
RAISE BOTH HIGHS AND LOWS IN THE HIGHLANDS AN AVG OF 5 DEGS.

I'VE SPENT MY EVES THESE PAST 3 NGTS RESEARCHING HIGH TEMP
CLIMO RECORDS. AS THESE NEXT 3 DAYS HV THE PTNL TO REACH 100 DEGS I
WANTED TO FIND OUT CONSECUTIVE DAY STRINGS OF 100 OR GTR...

FOR DC AND BALT BOTH THE RECORD IS 4 BEGINNING 7/19/1930. DC HAS HAD
3 OCCURENCES OF 3 DAYS IN A ROW...BALT 5 OCCURENCES..WITH THE
EARLIEST BEING 1900. THERE HV BEEN MULTIPLE 2 DAY IN A ROW..LATEST
BEING 7/99.

1930 WAS ESPECIALLY WICKED. BTWN 7/19 AND 8/9 THERE WERE 11 DAYS 100
OR GRTR IN DC. AND THE ALL-TIME MAX...106 WAS REACHED DURG THIS
STREAK. ALL W/O A/C...

OF COURSE THE POINT OF ALL OF THIS IS TO WARN THE PUBLIC AND
ATTEMPT TO PREVENT HEAT INJURIES OR WORSE. MEDIA HAS DONE AN XCLNT
JOB GETTING WORD OUT. THIS IS LKLY NOT "NORMAL" SUMMER HEAT..THIS IS
HIGH END HEAT. AS A SOMEWHAT "LOW END" TEST I INPUT A TEMP/DWPT OF
99/72 FOR TMRW...WHICH GAVE A HEAT INDEX OF 108.7..WHICH IS
CERTAINLY CLOSE ENOUGH TO HEAT WRNG CRITERIA OF 110 FOR ME.

THE GOOD NEWS - THERE IS A CD FNT OUT THERE. MSP HIT 101 TDA..BUT IN
NRN MN BHND THE FNT TEMPS ARE IN THE L80S.

WOODY!

.SHORT TERM /TONIGHT THROUGH TUESDAY/...

MOSTLY CLEAR AND MUGGY TONIGHT WITH LOWS IN THE 70S AND NEAR 80 IN
THE CITIES.

TOMORROW...CENTER OF UPPER RIDGE BUILDS EAST AND SETTLES OVR SRN VA.
H85 AND H5 TEMPS RISE A COUPLE OF MORE DEGREES SUPPORTING HIGHS NEAR
100F AND PUTTING A LID ON CONVECTION. HEAT INDICES ARE EXPECTED IN
THE 105 TO 110F RANGE EAST OF THE BLUE RIDGE AND BETWEEN 100-105F
WEST OF THE BLUE RIDGE. EXCESSIVE HEAT WATCH HAS BEEN UPGRADING TO A
WARNING. THIS IS A VERY MARGINAL EXCESSIVE HEAT WARNING AS HEAT
INDICES NOT QUITE MEETING WARNING CRITERIA BUT WILL LIKELY MEET
THOSE NUMBERS (110F) WED AND THU.

&&

.LONG TERM /TUESDAY NIGHT THROUGH MONDAY/...

WEDNESDAY LOOKS TO BE THE WORST OF OUR HEAT WAVE DAYS. CENTER OF
STRONG MID LVL HIGH WILL BE OVR OUR REGION...PARTICULARLY OVER THE
MARYLAND COUNTIES. THIS SUGGESTS TEMPS IN CENTRAL MD JUST AS HOT AS
DC OR FREDERICKSBURG. WE HAVE GONE WITH THE EXC HEAT WARNING GNRLY E
OF THE BLUE RIDGE...MINUS CHO AND PLUS HGR...AND ADVISORY FOR THE
REMAINDER OF THE AREA EXCEPT HIGHLAND AND PENDLETON COUNTIES WHERE
HIGH TRRN DOMINATES THOSE COUNTIES. THU MAY BACK OFF ONLY A COUPLE
DEGREES AS HGTS BEGIN TO FALL SLIGHTLY DURING THE AFTN. THU NGT AND
FRI THE COLD FRONT LOOKS TO BE A LITTLE MORE AGGRESSIVE THAN
PREVIOUS FORECASTS AND HAVE RAISED POPS TO 40 FOR SOME SECTIONS...
WITH A DECENT COOL OFF TO NEAR NORMAL TEMPS (UPPER 80S AND AROUND
90).

SOME CONCERN WITH WESTERLY FLOW ESP WED (CONTINUING FROM TUE AND
WED...WHAT IMPACT WILL THAT HAVE ON WELL MIXED AFTN DEWPOINTS AND
MAX TEMPS. ATTM IT SEEMS THAT ANY DOWNSLOPE WOULD BE COUNTERED WITH
COMPRESSIONAL WARMING EVEN WITH THE MIXED OUT (LOWER) DEWPOINT
READINGS IN THE MID 60S.

I've seen longer heatwaves, but when it comes to just high temps, this is the worst I've seen since 1995

Uhh... this is probably the hottest summer I can remember, but I am 15. Haha.

My parents said it's one of the hottest they remember as well. Consistently hot all summer here...

And the low tonight is around 78 or so.. but the HI is supposed to still be near 90!!!

Oh my goodness, you can say that again!! Is it ever so hot in Ontario. I know other people have it worse but this is quite bad.

Tomorrow, I expect it to be the hottest day of the year thus far with a temperature of 35 °C as the high of the day or higher. It will feel like 45 °C with the Humidex. Some places in Ontario will feel like 50 °C which is very rare. On Sunday the weather network said Tuesday would be the hottest day ever. All I know is there will be records broken.
