I ended up with 1.25" in the gauge this week, with highs in the low to mid 70s for a few days. Very different from just a few weeks ago. Green and beautiful day today here with the sun. Very nice.


However, I guess you can't have it all the time, as these things go in cycles, especially in Texas. I'm not looking forward to the pattern shift if the CPC forecasts come to fruition. But at the same time in a northwest flow pattern, there can be unpredictable storms that ride the flow. That was mentioned by the EWX the other day. Anyway, I'll enjoy the fruits of the wet for the time being.

Unfortunately, it looks like a series of dry fronts will be the norm for a while, keeping the air mass dry. Ugh. Good for a week or two. Don't get me wrong, the Fall weather is beautiful right now. But this rain-free pattern may be a month or two. Seen this pattern establish itself before. Hope I'm wrong this time, because I like rain. Keep things nice, green, and clean. Otherwise without rain, it stays sunny and beautiful, and without water, things turn brown and shrivel, and the air gets dusty and pollen/particulate-laden.

.SHORT TERM (Tonight through Saturday Night)...
Low clouds continue to dissipate middle of this afternoon mainly
across the southwest and south of the local area with mostly sunny
skies elsewhere. Clear skies are expected for most of the tonight
period with low clouds developing overnight across the Coastal
Plains and parts of the I-35 corridor, the southern part of the
Edwards Plateau and the middle part of the Rio Grande. Overnight
lows are expected to range from the lower 60s across the Hill
Country to lower 70s along the Rio Grande.

Low clouds are forecast to dissipate late Saturday morning, leading
to mostly sunny skies in the afternoon. Highs are expected to reach
the mid 80s to lower 90s areawide. With similar weather pattern in
place through the weekend, expect low clouds to return Saturday
night across the Coastal Plains while spreading to the north with
the influence of a southerly flow. Since increased moisture is
expected for the Saturday night period, the overnight low
temperatures will also be a bit warmer with upper 60s over the Hill
Country and 70s rest of South Central Texas.

.LONG TERM (Sunday through Friday)...
The warmest day of the forecast period will occur on Sunday as the
low-level thermal ridge amplifies over the region. While we do expect
some morning low cloud cover, we will likely see plenty of afternoon
sunshine leading to highs in the upper 80s to near 100 degrees.

A change in the weather pattern is in store beginning late Sunday
night into early Monday morning as a stout cold front moves in from
the north. The cold front should clear most of the Hill Country and
the southern Edwards Plateau around sunrise Monday, so low
temperatures Sunday night/Monday morning will drop into the lower/mid
60s here. Elsewhere, we should see warm overnight lows in the upper
60s and lower 70s. The cold front will bring a low chance for showers
and thunderstorms to portions of the Hill Country and for areas
along and east of the I-35 corridor on Monday. All areas can expect
gusty north winds behind the front, along with much cooler high
temperatures in the 70s to lower 80s on Monday. We did increase wind
speeds given the tight surface pressure gradient and a few locations
across the western Hill Country into the southern Edwards Plateau
could briefly approach the lower end of Wind Advisory speeds (>26
MPH). Wind speeds will be slow to decrease Monday night given the
pressure gradient in place. Look for overnight lows mainly in the
50s.

Dry weather and below normal temperatures are expected Tuesday
through Friday across south central Texas. Another cold front is
expected to move into the region on Thursday. Given the dry air mass
in place ahead of the front, we do not expect any precipitation with
the frontal passage.

Another day with highs in the mid 70s or lower here. This has been an awesome run of cool temps. All signs right now point to a cool to cold fall with a bit below average rainfall, but all we need is one or two recurving E Pacific storms to get heavy rain this time of year. Hopefully we see the E Pacific tropics get going soon.

A mild to warm weekend before another trough cuts it down Monday. Then DFW will have lows in the 50s again for the Nth time this month (it was in the 50s yet again this morning). We have a shot at a top 10 coolest September if we can get the average to below 75.

This is the coolest September for DFW since 2003.

Drizzle/light rain this morning. Front came through around 2 to 3am I think. 60s and winds picking up.

Had strong storms last night around 2am. It is a cool 58 with clearing skies here this morning. Not sure we get back to 70 today under partly sunny skies. We have a shot at 40s every morning this week here.

Yep that's about the time they moved into my neck of the woods in Longview. Had a bit of wind and some lightning and loud thunder, but nothing crazy. Ended up with 0.50" in my rain gauge. My grass is loving these cooler temperatures and wet conditions over the last week or two.

Norman is supposed to get down to a warm 44 degrees tomorrow morning. I’m waking up extra early to take it in while it’s here. Seeing that parts of NTX will be in the 40s as well! Winter is knocking on the door!

Nice! Some of the lower-lying areas along the river (Colorado) valleys here saw lows in the mid-upper 40s. Rest of Travis County had lows in the low 50s. I haven't done the research yet but I think this may have been the coolest morning since spring.

I think they said since May on KXAN. But that's just hearsay. I didn't research it either.
