In all likelihood, DFW should also see its first 80*F low of the season tomorrow...

So, average for a DFW summer. No big deal.

Like I always told my northern friends, in Texas, summers are our winters.

Austin has not gotten to 100 yet (surprisingly). Already had by this time last year. Several 99s so far this year.
I'm fine if we don't ever hit 100. Not keeping my hopes up.lol

I feel like there was at least one year where we didn't hit 100, but can't remember. 2007? I don't know. I know 2007 was a very wet Summer here.

Well more to the point I was making, the 100*F streak last Summer also started off "average."

So I wouldn't assume an average observation date for the first 100*F day it will translate into an "average" or "no big deal" Summer overall.

Ensembles don't look promising. It isn't the 100s, we need clouds/rain days to break it up otherwise the feedback sun-dry-sun-more dry and then you'll string together weeks of heat/dry. July is when ridges and surface feedback really gets cranking.

Interesting. So this phenomenon isn’t apparently just a state of Texas thing… :D

Are we ever gonna break the trend of bad summers and winters is my question. We're easily headed towards a third in a row bad summer considering the heat usually doesn't peak til later

Models indicating a ridge flex peaking near the July 4th week (next week). If you haven't seen official 100F, should next week if not 100-105F.

Hopefully it will break down after that.

I’m not really too worried about it. I don’t think it’ll be as bad as last summer.

I'm afraid conditions won't be improving for quite some time. Ridge looks to remain near or over the region for the next 2 weeks at least. The hottest conditions will likely be across north TX and OK. An extended hot and dry spell still looks to be in the early stages unfortunately.

While I agree that the overall pattern for an extended heat wave and dry weather looks to prevail for much of the state over the next couple weeks, the HRRR and NAM are both indicating this MCS potential for N/NE TX for tomorrow afternoon/evening... possibly into Thursday morning.

It won't help everyone, but for those that get some some rain it will be nice to see.

All I can say is we're taking an Alaskan cruise starting next Monday through the following Friday (two weeks). First one. Supposed to be from near 50 to the 70s at the warmest according to some Tempest weather stations in that area.

Can't get out of this sauna/blast furnace soon enough. Will be a shock to the system being acclimated to upper 90s with 110 heat indices.LOL

That drought & heatwave of 1980 summer in Texas did a number on Cat 5 Hurricane Allen when it made landfall south of Corpus.

Severe storms heading my way with a destructive warning for OKC. Wasn't expecting them to be this strong but I'll certainly take the rain before the upcoming streak of 100+ degrees days.
