Unfortunately it's not going to change anytime soon. Another similar track system middle next week (dry) behind this.
Winds picking up some (20 mph range) on Monday. They'll only be 2 days of fairly light winds to contain the two significant blazes in W. Texas and the Panhandle.

Is that the system when we could see at least a decent cool down?

The official high today at DFW is 87*F, well above the forecast and model projections...

Re: Texas Spring 2025
Extremely thick smoke/dust around here and lots of fire warnings for towns further west. Not a fan at all of this whole extreme fire risk situation. It's not getting nearly as much attention as the Day 2 high risk but I would rather deal with a high risk day than this.

Amarillo, OKC, WF, Tulsa all been gusting 60mph+ today. DFW upper 40s. It's been one of the largest dust storms we have seen since tracking for the northern portions of the southern plains, quite a day. This is stuff areal coverage wise you see in the dust bowl era.

The High Wind Warning definitely busted for DFW, with the Jet Streak setting up further NW than originally expected.

I noted a post early in the day 40-50mph was bar for us, that's what most of the guidance was showing. Trajectory of the ULL and surface deepening low was NE. Next week is a little more W-E oriented so might be more of an event for us.

But it's also going to be a considerably weaker low, which should translate to a relatively weaker wind field.

This is the kind of day where you seriously wonder how long this part of the country will be inhabitable.

It was 105+ down in the Lower Rio Grande Valley region. 107F is the national high near La Puerta.
Only 9 more months of this

While there are extreme conditions in some areas with this storm system... this take is also extreme.

Re: Texas Spring 2025
Based upon some of the tornado reports from earlier this evening/tonight and ongoing storm reports right now, the SPC probably could have easily gotten away with a High Risk for Friday’s storm threat. Before Thursday evening, the models didn’t quite initialize the slightly more aggressive moisture return further north and west very well, which ended up a little closer to the more favorable jet dynamics.

Maybe not for the tornado reports, but definitely the wind reports for sure.
