last cell had some very high winds with it...probably gusting to 50mph. Loose items were blowing around everywhere.

AS USUAL we've missed out on all the heavy rain so far. Haven't even had 3/4 of an inch here in Lafayette yet and all the heavy stuff has moved north of here. I really thought we would get some heavy rains to help end our drought and deficit but we'd be lucky to see 2" total the way it seems now.

Not sure what you are experiencing is any different then if you had a Tropical Storm hitting you. Barometer down to 29.48, winds 40-50, floods, tornado outbreak.

Good luck and be careful!!!

One thing to remember about the tornadoes:

Many people in the area are living in FEMA trailers after Katrina and Rita. Even an F1 will severely damage them and an F2 will demolish them.

Most of the tornadoes that have actually touched down have been weak tornadoes correct?? I know one tore up a mobile home, but as far as a brick building, I should be ok...right???
Things look to be settling down over in the Orange,TX area, or is it just me desperately hoping?

Watching it on TV right now Bunkertor. WOW! Just got a very close lightning strike. Got me a bit jumpy! It's pitch black and p*ssing down rain. Sump pump going non-stop.

I agree. I was hoping this next line would be it - but there is even more developing to the west of it.

It doesn 't look like we are out of the woods yet.

Per radar trends showers and thunderstorms are starting to re-develop over the area due to increasing upper level lift approaching from the west. Widespread heavy rain and flood threat remains through early evening.

If I happened to be in Houston, I would really consider taking the rest of the afternoon off. If one of these lines to the west slides over Houston for a few hours, then some of the major highways will be under water. There is simply no where for the water to run off, and the flooding will build up quickly.

I've gotten 8 1/2 inches here at my house. The sun is actually out now but we have another line just out to the west trying to make it's way in here. The sun is probably making things a little more instable.

Wish I could. I work in Uptown and have to drive up to The Woodlands...but people where I work don't take off unless it's something really major like a hurricane warning.

Probably so Johnny. This line now near Uptown has the most lightning I've seen all day. It's thundering here quite a bit now.
