I don't think that line will push back our way. It appears to be training NE.

What concerens me is the fact there is plenty off to our SW still and even though it is now disappating before it gets into the metro area if we get enough heating with the sun that is now out, we could destabilize again and end up with another round of storms, which we simply can not handle!!!

Jen & Lisa...your bear creek dome has nothing on the lafayette parish dome. The rain starts at the northern parish line, redevelop on the eastern parish line. Lafayette parish is outlined by rain and nothing going on within the parish.

It's funny you mention the dome over lafayette. I noticed over the years that when severe weather is headed our way the line starts to break up as it enters the parish and several times it'll form back together as it heads towards New Orleans. I remember Rob Perillo mentioning this on TV after we were supposed to get severe weather a few times and we barely saw a drop of rain. I'm very interested to know why this has occured so often.

Hey CrazyCajun,

I think just about everyone thinks they have a "dome" or something that breaks-up the weather before it gets to them.

My grandparents swear every time a storm heads to their house in Birmingham, the ridge (Red Mountain) breaks it up before it gets there. Of course, in reality that doesn't happen....in fact, my grandfather has been keeping records for almost 40 years and his annual rainfall is almost the exact same as the airport a few miles away. I'd wager if you looked at a long-term rainfall map for your region, you'd be right on-par with your adjacent surroundings.

I guess it's like most other things - you only remember the times you are jipped. :)

Kind of odd that the NWS is keeping the flash flood watch going til this evening. We haven't received a drop of rain today and the radar is almost completely quiet. Regardless, I don't mind because the sun is finally out!

I like those overcast skies, PT. My house feels cooler and even though it's probably just in my mind, i feel my a/c doesn't have to work as much. I would have liked to have seen some rain yesterday though. Skimming the parish line was just teasing me too much

Looks like this sunshine on the west side won't last much longer. The Victoria pipeline is loaded and firing once again...

The Sun is out now and those storms you mention are heading towards. That's not good. Should keep an eye on them. With all those heat, it will make it more unstable.

Since the seabreeze is picking up, it would be interesting how these storms react.

Hmmm....after lookin at radar I see a twist to the storms....Perhaps this is a small little disturbance moving along with the upper level flow...seems to have a hint of rotation in the upper or mid levels....in any case, its prolly gonna soak houston because its moving right for us.

Well that was interesting! 2.55 inches of rain (so far, still light rain)
Lots of thunder & lightning, some strong winds too. I have a old roof, and today it let me know it's time for a new roof, had 1 little place that leaked. got most of the rain in about 15 min.
I went outside a bit ago, and hear all the Toads singing.
