Somehow the Saint Petersburg Thermometer got put outside in direct sunlight:
False Readings: that's what happens when you put the thermometer in direct
sunlight...
107/75 for Friday
102/72 for Saturday

LOL!!!!!! http://www.weather.gov/data/obhistory/KSPG.html

This is almost comical, 30 degrees hotter than surrounding areas
It's global warming! Just kidding!

If you look at the latest GFS, the isobars are very close to each other
once the front comes through. Winds should easily gust over 35 mph
with the frontal passage.

The advertised cold front later this weekend sounds like it will lose alot of its steam as it moves into south florida...with flow quickly becoming out of the ne, modifying any cold air along the coast. Forecast lows in the metro areas of se fl not expected to fall below 60 as of this time.

NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE MIAMI FL
611 AM EST WED NOV 12 2008

DISCUSSION... THE TROUGH WILL CONTINUE DIGGING
SOUTHEASTWARD AND THE FRONT WILL MOVE THROUGH S FLA SATURDAY NIGHT.
ALL OF THE MID TO UPPER LEVEL SUPPORT RAPIDLY SHIFTS TO THE NE SO
DYNAMICS WILL REMAIN WELL TO THE N OF THE CWA AND ONLY ISOLD SHRA
APPEAR TO BE IN THE PICTURE
. ONCE THE FRONT PASSES, MUCH DRIER AND
COOLER AIR WILL FILTER INTO THE REGION AND BY EARLY NEXT WEEK
MINIMUMS ARE EXPECTED TO RANGE FROM THE UPPER 40S AROUND LAKE
OKEE TO AROUND 60 ALONG THE SE CST. HIGH PRESSURE BUILDING BEHIND
THE FRONT WILL SHIFT E INTO THE ATLANTIC BY MIDWEEK MODIFYING THE
AIRMASS.

Strong Cold Front on the way- significant horizontal temperature
gradient- From 88 to 63-68 for highs, 25 degree temperature difference in
highs. This over a very short area- as indicated by numerous close isobars on
the GFS model. Horizontal Gradient/Frontal Energy will combine with
Paloma's Remnant Circulation/Vorticity/Moisture to result in very strong
winds in association with the front. I would expect widespread winds
of 30 mph with gusts over 40 mph. 30 mph winds are in the forecast
for the offshore gulf waters: http://www.srh.noaa.gov/tbw
That forecast sounds conservative looking at the pressure gradient about
the front, temperature gradient about the front, and vorticity/moisture from Paloma.
I would expect winds to increase to 30 mph ahead of the front, exceed 40 mph
when the frontal storms come through, and continue to stay very strong at 35
mph behind the front.

Today my thermometer measured the first low in the 70s this month. It had been in the cool 60s since the end of October.

Don't break out the winter jackets quite yet.....from NWS Miami this morning...

DEEP SW FLOW DEVELOPING ACROSS S FLA WITH QUITE TOASTY AFTERNOON TEMPS
ANTICIPATED FOR THE E CST METRO AREAS. BOTH MET AND MAV GUIDANCE
SHOWS MAXIMUM TEMPS IN THE MID 80S BUT IT COULD EASILY GET INTO
THE UPPER 80S WITH THIS TYPE OF PATTERN. THE RECORD HIGHS FOR MIA
AND PBI ARE 87 WHILE FLL IS 89 SO STATIONS RECORDS COULD BE
IN JEOPARDY.
