We got nailed last night! The lightning was amazing.... We even got a decent amount of rain! Looks like we get another shot next week at a lot of rain too... I guess its good that its going to dry out for the next few days so when we get more rain next week, it doesnt flood...

Let's hope for it to end the drought once and for all.

I probably would have been diagnosed as being on the Spectrum as a child, except nobody much paid attention in the 1960s, but I did rent a tape on Aspergers, and am happy to report I am not even close to that socially inept. My son is clearly on the Spectrum, but is now mainstreamed in his school, and has successfully overcome his fear of flush toilets.

Just how much QPF is the Euro showing next Wednesday

The bane of us interested amateur observers, low graphics resolution, 24 hour time steps, surface pressure, 500 mb heights, 850 mb winds and vorticity, mean layer 700-500 mb relative humidities. And not a thing more.

I saw mention of 2 inch plus PWs (not that rare around here) and big flood potential from the 0Z Euro for next week, just what kind of QPF are we talking here?

BTW, since all the US models are available for free in good detail, I think the EC are a bunch of weasels.

But I have always felt that way about Europeans.

I see rain, once again upstream :-)

And unlike yesterday at this time, the ones that are developing are not fizzling-out within 15 minutes.

Looks like everything is coming in from the WNW and NW and it appears to be building. Could be interesting, as in a convergence right over Harris County that produces some downpours. We will watch and wait. Now can I go out and get something done before it happen, if it does?

Getting the mother-load of all storms here at the office.

Why can't this cluster be just 20 miles to the north?? There must be a dome at my house lol.

2 for 2 here in Spring Branch too! Lots of CG and gusts around 40 mph. Started our with a brief heavy downpour and then let up and got very windy. Now the higher wind is gone and the CG is much less, but it is pouring. Radar still indicates this may converge over us. That is fine as long as we don't flood! Bust that drought baby!!

Quite a storm just came through downtown. Lots of CG and wind. Sheets of rain were swirling around the DT Houston skyscrapers. Looked like a hurricane for a minute or two as we had a downburst. Just hope this rain makes it to League City.

I just got home - crazy commute.

Nothing here yet. There is a glimmer of hope - some storms look like they are trying to get going up near Conroe but I'm not getting my hopes up. Visually, the towers were fluctuating from crisp edges to ragged-looking, so I'm not conviced those updrafts will sustain themselves into anything substantial.

Edit, added @ 5:37: storms seem to be really growing upscale - good. Outflow has passed by here and temp. dropping - bad.

We'll see if they hold together or fall apart when they hit the cooler air.

Hmm. Cells north of Hwy 105 seem to still be building up more there...as the cells cross south of 105 and move towards The Woodlands/Oak Ridge, the southern areas seem to be weakening. Either it's an indication the stable air is putting on the brakes & the primary instabilty is just north of Conroe, or I need to stop nowcasting and let the radar turn over a few more frames.

Can they please, please holfd together for another 5-10 miles?

Nada, zilch, zippo here except a fine mist and downburst winds. Basically just enough of a tease to once again really tick me off!!!

Edit: I since had a few - and I mean a few - drops here. Just enough to rub salt on the wounds....

Evidently some really heavy storms moved south between lafayette and lake charles. Funnel clouds were reported in the area. I-10 east and west were closed down near egan, la due to an overturned 18 wheeler. The radio dj didn't know if it was from a tornado or not.
