We're gonna have ourselves a nice weekend starting this weekend...and to those college students who are already finished with school today for the year, y'all are gonna get a taste of summer...wait, y'all are already on a summer vacation. Anyways, the weather will be unseasonably hot on Saturday with highs in the 90s, but all will come crashing down the next day as a cold front sweeps through the area early Sunday Morning...that and there's a chance of thunderstorms from Tuesday on.

The weekend has been an eerie one. On Friday and Saturday we had a taste of summer with highs near 90, then on Sunday, the weather has gotten alot cooler as a cold front swept through. We'll be rain free today, but from Tuesday to Friday Evening, we'll see some thunderstorms with the best chances on Late Tuesday to Wednesday where we'll be put under a slight risk of severe thunderstorms. Large hail, damaging winds, and an isolated tornado or 2 is possible.

SPC AC 120603

DAY 2 CONVECTIVE OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
0103 AM CDT MON MAY 12 2008

VALID 131200Z - 141200Z

...THERE IS A SLGT RISK OF SVR TSTMS FROM TX INTO THE LOWER MO
VALLEY...

...SYNOPSIS...
AN UPPER TROUGH...NOW OVER THE NWRN CONUS...WILL CONTINUE TO DIG SWD
WITH UPPER LOW CENTER PROGGED TO BE OVER AZ TUE AFTERNOON. RAPID
MOISTURE RETURN WILL BE UNDERWAY ACROSS THE PLAINS ALONG AND AHEAD
OF AN ELONGATED LOW PRESSURE TROUGH THAT WILL EXTEND ROUGHLY FROM
THE UPPER MS VALLEY SWD ACROSS CNTRL OK AND INTO NWRN TX AT MIDDAY.
LOW LEVEL MOISTURE WILL CONTINUE TO SURGE NWWD ACROSS TX DURING THE
DAYTIME AND OVERNIGHT IN RESPONSE TO LOWERING PRESSURES ACROSS W TX
OVERNIGHT...OR JUST AHEAD OF THE EJECTING UPPER TROUGH. THE RESULT
WILL BE A WIDESPREAD AREA OF SEVERE...SOME SIGNIFICANT...FROM TX
INTO MO.

FARTHER N...A STRONG NRN STREAM TROUGH WILL SWEEP ACROSS THE UPPER
MS VALLEY DURING THE DAY AND INTO THE GREAT LAKES OVERNIGHT. LOW
PRESSURE IS FORECAST TO DEEPEN RAPIDLY OVERNIGHT WITH A SHARPENING
SURFACE TROUGH. DUE TO LIMITED INSTABILITY...A MORE LIMITED AND
CONDITIONAL SEVERE THREAT WILL EXIST WITH THIS SYSTEM.

...MO...OK...WRN AR...NRN TX...
MODELS ARE IN FAIRLY GOOD AGREEMENT THAT A LEAD LOW-AMPLITUDE
SHORTWAVE TROUGH WILL MOVE ACROSS OK...SERN KS AND WRN MO DURING THE
DAY. THIS FEATURE SHOULD HELP MAINTAIN A 30-40 KT SWLY LOW LEVEL JET
FROM TX INTO MO...RESULTING IN A RAPID RETURN OF MOISTURE AND
SURFACE DEWPOINTS INTO THE MID 60S AS FAR N AS SERN KS AND SWRN MO
BY AFTERNOON. GIVEN THIS MAGNITUDE OF MOISTURE...AS WELL AS
RELATIVELY COOL TEMPERATURE PROFILES ALOFT...LITTLE CAPPING WILL BE
PRESENT IN THE WARM SECTOR. INDEED...MULTIPLE FORECAST MODELS
GENERATE A LARGE AREA OF INTENSE PRECIPITATION BY AFTERNOON...FROM
NERN TX ACROSS OK...WRN AR AND MO. DEEP LAYER SHEAR ON THE ORDER OF
40-50 KT ALONG WITH STRONG INSTABILITY WILL RESULT IN MULTIPLE
CLUSTERS OF THUNDERSTORMS...INCLUDING SUPERCELLS. VERY LARGE HAIL
WILL BE LIKELY GIVEN THE STEEP MID LEVEL LAPSE RATES AND EXPECTED
SUPERCELLULAR STORM MODE. LOW LEVEL SHEAR AHEAD OF THE COLD FRONT
WILL BE SUFFICIENT FOR A FEW TORNADOES GIVEN THE FAVORABLE MOISTURE
AND INSTABILITY PROFILES.

THE LOW LEVEL JET IS FORECAST TO RESPOND TO THE W TX LOW LATE IN THE
DAY...THUS WEAKENING A BIT OVER OK/AR/MO. THIS WILL LIKELY RESULT IN
LESS THAN OPTIMAL HODOGRAPHS FOR A TORNADO OUTBREAK...BUT A STRONG
TORNADO CANNOT BE RULED OUT SOMEWHERE FROM NE TX INTO SW MO DURING
THE AFTERNOON.

BY EVENING...STORMS MAY FORM INTO AN MCS ALONG AND/OR AHEAD OF THE
ADVANCING COLD FRONT...WITH A FEW DAMAGING WIND GUSTS AND LARGE HAIL
POSSIBLE ALONG THE FRONT OVERNIGHT SEWD TOWARD THE MS RIVER.

...WRN AND N CNTRL TX OVERNIGHT...
SLY LOW LEVEL FLOW WILL BE MAINTAINED THROUGHOUT THE DAY OVER
TX...AS LOW PRESSURE DEEPENS TO THE W. THE UPPER TROUGH WILL
GRADUALLY SHIFT EWD INTO W TX OVERNIGHT. AMPLE INSTABILITY WILL BE
IN PLACE...AND THIS UNSTABLE AIR MASS WILL SURGE NWD AFTER DARK WITH
THE LOW LEVEL JET. ONGOING STORMS OVER OK AND NERN TX MAY BUILD SWWD
ALONG THE COLD FRONT...BUT ADDITIONAL DEVELOPMENT IS ALSO LIKELY
WITH THE DEEPER FRONTAL SURGE AS THE TROUGH MOVES OUT. VERY LARGE
HAIL AND DAMAGING WINDS WILL BE LIKELY AND TORNADOES MAY OCCUR AS
WELL WITH ANY CELLULAR ACTIVITY AWAY FROM THE COLD FRONT.

As mentioned in the above post, there's a slight risk of severe thunderstorms across all os North Texas today and tonight. Large Hail, Damaging Winds, and an isolated tornado or 2 is possible. Until then, we'll see isolated areas of drizzle through the morning hours. Thunderstorms will be ongoing through Thursday and again, severe weather is expected. Then we'll see a nice weekend ahead.

Don't be surprised if your morning commute is a wet start. Many North Texans are waking up to some light rain and some isolated areas of thunder as a cold front already passed through the Metroplex. It's not over yet, we're under a slight risk of severe thunderstorms throughout the day.

Last night was a busy night for some North Texans as another storm system moved in the region. A Tornado Watch was issued for the southwestern 2/3rds of North Texas with Tornado Warnings prompted afterwards. There was a tornadic storm west of Meridian, but it slowly lost its strength. Along with that storm cell was another line that developed since 9:45PM. None of those storms reached severe limits until the southern end of the line swiped through Ellis County. Slowly, the weather clears up to make way for a nice and warm weekend.

This week will begin as a hot one. Record highs will revail throughout today and possibly tomorrow with highs near 100. However, we'll get a slight cooldown on Wednesday followed by a slight chance of thunderstorms for the Memorial Day weekend.

While no Heat Advisory is issued, treat it asd such and wear light weight, light colored clothing, a hat with a brim, use a sunscreen of SPF-15 or higher, and drink plenty of non-alcoholic and non-caffeinated beverages.

It's official, Mondays record high of 98 set back in 2006 was broken. Temperatures reached as high as 99 during the afternoon hours, driving many residents to come up with many ways to cool themselves down on the afternoon commute. Today will be no different weather-wise, but no records will be tied or broken today, so that's good news.

Well, this Memorial Day weekend's not gonna be a washout after all. The chances of rain that were predicted from Today through Monday has been pushed to Wednesday...however, beware of a few surprise storms when you're the most vulnerable. Also, prepare as if under a Heat Advisory: put on some sunscreen of SPF-15 or higher and drink plenty of non-alcoholic and non-caffeinated beverages as heat indecies reach 101 today.

Today is our first potential 100 degeree day for North Texas. But is a Heat Advisory issued? No Instead, the National Weather Service has issued a Wind Advisory for the entire region until 7:00PM CDT.

NWS - Fort Worth wrote:SOUTH TO SOUTHWEST WINDS FROM 25 TO 30 MPH WILL GUST TO 35 MPH
THIS AFTERNOON AND INTO THE EARLY EVENING HOURS ALONG AND WEST OF
A SHERMAN TO ROCKWALL TO TEMPLE LINE.

A WIND ADVISORY MEANS THAT SUSTAINED WINDS OF AT LEAST 20 TO
30 MPH ARE EXPECTED. WINDS THIS STRONG CAN MAKE DRIVING
DIFFICULT...ESPECIALLY FOR HIGH PROFILE VEHICLES. BOATERS SHOULD
USE EXTRA CAUTION WHEN VENTURING ONTO AREA LAKES. RESIDENTS MAY
WISH TO TAKE ACTION TO SECURE TRASH CANS...LAWN FURNITURE...AND
OTHER LIGHTWEIGHT OUTDOOR OBJECTS THAT MAY BE BLOWN AROUND IN THE
STRONG WINDS.

I'm assuming there's a tight pressure gradiant that we don't know about, considering the storm system is trying to break the gigantic high pressure cap that has covered the entire Gulf Coast states.

Yesterday, the Big line of thunderstorms that have briefly reached severe limits that was supposed to miss the DFW area entirely went all the way to the DFW area, taking several North Texans by surprise. Rainfall amounts totaled to 0.85 in. at DFW with outside amounts of over 2 in. Will we have a repeat from yesterday? Highly unlikely due to the fact that the High Pressure cap is building in the Southern region of the US, bringing us back to summer weather.

The National Weather Service in cooperation with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality has issued a Level Orange Air Pollution Watch for the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex throughout today.

NWS - Fort Worth wrote:ATMOSPHERIC CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED TO BE FAVORABLE FOR PRODUCING
HIGH LEVELS OF OZONE AIR POLLUTION IN THE DALLAS-FORT WORTH AREA
ON THURSDAY. OZONE LEVELS COULD REACH THE LEVEL ORANGE "UNHEALTHY
FOR SENSITIVE GROUPS" CATEGORY.

ELEVATED CONCENTRATIONS OF OZONE CAN ACT AS A LUNG IRRITANT.
INDIVIDUALS WITH CHRONIC LUNG DISEASE, SUCH AS ASTHMA AND
EMPHYSEMA, AS WELL AS THE ELDERLY AND YOUNG CHILDREN, ARE

As the last week of school is in progress for many North Texas kids, the weather gets hotter and windier...wait, windy on a hot day? Well, it's possible in the next 24 hours through Thursday. Will it cause any grass fires? Highly unlikely according to the Hazardous Weather Outlook. Although expect heat indicies of up to 105 to those who are living in the Southeastern part of the region.

While no Heat Advisory is issued, treat it asd such and wear light weight, light colored clothing, a hat with a brim, use a sunscreen of SPF-15 or higher, and drink plenty of non-alcoholic and non-caffeinated beverages.

As the last day od scholl goes in session for a few districts, many othr students are already off for the summer, but it may be a dreary beginning...then again it may be welcome relief for some North Texas cities. Beyond that, highs will remain in the lower to mid 90s throughout next week.
