WEATHER SUMMARY FOR THE U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE SAN JUAN PR
506 AM AST SUN FEB 28 2010

MOSTLY CLEAR SKIES PREVAILED ACROSS THE U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS
OVERNIGHT. DOPPLER WEATHER RADAR DETECTED ISOLATED LIGHT SHOWERS
OVER THE LOCAL COASTAL WATERS...WITH NO PRECIPITATION DETECTED
OVER LAND. THE WINDS WERE SOUTHERLY AT LESS THAN 10 MPH AND THE
TEMPERATURES FELL INTO THE MID TO UPPER 70S NEAR THE COASTS.

HIGH PRESSURE ACROSS THE TROPICAL ATLANTIC WILL MAINTAIN A VERY
DRY AND STABLE AIR MASS ACROSS THE EASTERN CARIBBEAN FOR MUCH OF
THE WEEK. PREVAILING SOUTHERLY WINDS WILL RESULT IN NEAR NORMAL
TEMPERATURES ACROSS THE LOCAL ISLANDS WITH VERY LIMITED SHOWER
ACTIVITY EXPECTED EACH DAY.

ACROSS THE REGIONAL WATERS...SMALL CRAFT ADVISORIES REMAIN IN
EFFECT FOR THE LOCAL ATLANTIC WATERS AND CARIBBEAN PASSAGES
THROUGH NOON TODAY...WITH LARGE BREAKING WAVES AND DANGEROUS RIP
CURRENTS EXPECTED ACROSS THE NORTHERN EXPOSED COASTLINES OF SAINT
THOMAS AND SAINT JOHN THROUGH AT LEAST 10 AM AST.

Good morning.Dry and hot today.

AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE SAN JUAN PR
538 AM AST SUN FEB 28 2010

.SYNOPSIS...STILL EXPECT LITTLE OVERALL CHANGE SYNOPTICALLY FOR
THE NEXT SEVERAL DAYS...AS FA REMAINS LOCATED BETWEEN MID TO UPPER
LEVEL TROUGHINESS TO THE WEST THROUGH NORTHWEST AND MID TO UPPER
LEVEL RIDGE TO THE SOUTH AND EAST...WITH A SERIES OF PERTURBATIONS
PASSING BY MAINLY NORTH OF THE LOCAL ISLANDS.

&&

.DISCUSSION...ANOTHER MAINLY DRY AND UNSEASONABLY WARM DAY ON TAP
TODAY FOR NORTH COASTAL SECTIONS...AS ABUNDANT SUNSHINE AND
SOUTHEAST TO SOUTH SURFACE WINDS PREVAIL. RECORD HIGH TEMPERATURE
FOR LMM AIRPORT/SAN JUAN IS 93 DEGREES SET IN 1983. STAYED CLOSE
TO GUIDANCE TODAY AND EXPECT 89 OR A LITTLE ABOVE...BUT FEEL THAT
RECORD SHOULD BE SAFE.

FOR TONIGHT THROUGH MONDAY...EXPECT NEXT FRONTAL BOUNDARY TO MOVE
EAST SOUTHEAST TOWARD THE LOCAL AREA BUT IT STILL APPEARS THAT IT
WILL GET HUNG UP MAINLY NORTH OF THE FA. SHOULD SEE SOME
CLOUDINESS BUT VERY LIMITED SHOWER ACTIVITY EXPECTED. THIS
FEATURE WILL LIFT BACK TO THE NORTH NORTHWEST MONDAY NIGHT...
LEAVING ADDITIONAL VERY WARM TO HOT AND MAINLY DRY DAYS ON TAP
FOR TUESDAY AND WEDNESDAY...WITH SOUTHEAST TO SOUTH SURFACE WINDS
AND A GOOD DEAL OF SUNSHINE EACH DAY. WEDNESDAY IS LIKELY TO BE
THE HOTTEST DAY. IN FACT...GUIDANCE ALREADY INDICATING 90 DEGREES
FOR WEDNESDAY...SO IF TRENDS CONTINUE AND MODELS HAVE BEEN VERY
CONSISTENT WITH THIS SCENARIO...WOULD EXPECT READINGS WEDNESDAY IN
THE LOWER TO POSSIBLY EVEN MID 90S! THE LMM AIRPORT/SAN JUAN
RECORD FOR MARCH 3RD (WEDNESDAY) IS 92 DEGREES SET IN 1981 AND
THIS MAY WELL BE IN JEOPARDY.

LOOKING WAY AHEAD...YET ANOTHER FRONTAL BOUNDARY WILL APPROACH
THE LOCAL AREA THURSDAY AND IS STILL EXPECTED TO SLOWLY SAG ACROSS
THE LOCAL ISLANDS THURSDAY NIGHT THROUGH FRIDAY AND THEN PROBABLY
LINGER AROUND FOR NEXT WEEKEND. HOWEVER...THIS IS STILL ALMOST A
WEEK AWAY...SO STAY TUNED THROUGH THE WEEK FOR UPDATES.

ALTHOUGH IT REMAINS A BORDERLINE EVENT...OPTED TO LEAVE HIGH SURF
ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 10 AM THIS MORNING...AS BUOY DATA STILL
INDICATING LONG PERIOD NORTHWEST SWELLS CAPABLE OF PRODUCING
8 TO 12 FOOT BREAKING WAVES ALONG THE LOCAL NORTHWEST THROUGH
NORTHEAST FACING COASTLINES.

&&

.AVIATION...PREVAILING VFR CONDITIONS EXPECTED FOR THE NEXT 24
HOURS IN A SOUTHERLY WIND FLOW OF 10 TO 15 KNOTS.

&&

.MARINE...MODERATE...LONG PERIOD NORTHWEST SWELLS WILL CONTINUE
TO AFFECT THE LOCAL ATLANTIC WATERS AND THE CARIBBEAN PASSAGES
THROUGH TODAY...MAKING FOR LOCALLY ROUGH AND HAZARDOUS MARINE
CONDITIONS. A SMALL CRAFT ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FOR MOST OF
THE LOCAL ATLANTIC WATERS AND THE CARIBBEAN PASSAGES THROUGH AT
LEAST NOON AST TODAY. PLEASE REFER TO SJUCWFSJU AND SJUMWWSJU FOR
ADDITIONAL FORECAST AND AREA SPECIFIC DETAILS.

Good morning! I see plenty of moisture in the Lesser Antilles maybe some of teh islands will see the much needed rain.

Here in El Salvador is a nice cool morning, although the temperature in San Salvador is 19 °C/66 °F it feels cooler because of the gusts upto 35 km/h (21 mph). Here is what the TWD says about the northerly winds:

GAP WINDS...
GALE FORCE WINDS ARE CURRENTLY AFFECTING THE GULF OF
TEHUANTEPEC.
WINDS ARE EXPECTED TO FALL BELOW GALE FORCE BY
MID-MORNING SUN AS WINDS VEER SOUTHERLY OVER THE GULF OF MEXICO
IN ADVANCE OF THE FAST MOVING COLD FRONT CURRENTLY PASSING
THROUGH NW MEXICO. ANOTHER GALE WARNING IS LIKELY TO BEGIN TUE
AFTERNOON AS THIS FRONT PASSES THROUGH THE WESTERN GULF AND
USHERS NORTHERLY WINDS THROUGH THE ISTHMUS OF TEHUANTEPEC.

THE COLD FRONT THAT INDUCED THE GALE CURRENTLY IN THE GULF OF
TEHUANTEPEC WILL CONTINUE SOUTHWARD THROUGH CENTRAL AMERICA AND
INCREASE WINDS ABOVE 20 KT THIS MORNING IN THE GULF OF FONSECA
AND THEN IN THE GULF OF PAPAGAYO FOLLOWED BY THE GULF OF PANAMA
BY SUN EVENING.
WINDS WILL SHIFT MORE EASTERLY WITHIN ABOUT 12
HOURS AFTER FRONTAL PASSAGE...ALLOWING FOR FUNNELING WINDS TO
DIMINISH IN THE GULFS OF FONSECA AND PANAMA. NE WINDS ARE
EXPECTED TO INCREASE TO 30 KT IN THE GULF OF PAPAGAYO MON
MORNING...AIDED BY THE MORNING DRAINAGE FLOW AND THE MORE
EASTERLY WIND DIRECTION WELL AFTER THE FRONTAL PASSAGE WHICH
FAVORS FUNNELING WINDS IN THE GULF OF PAPAGAYO. WINDS IN THE
GULF OF PAPAGAYO WILL DECREASE BELOW 20 KT BY TUE MORNING.

Updated discussion by NWS San Juan

AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE SAN JUAN PR
1014 AM AST SUN FEB 28 2010

.UPDATE...WEATHER CONDITIONS TO REMAIN GENERALLY DRY THROUGH THIS
AFTERNOON IN SPITE OF UPPER LEVEL DIVERGENT FLOW AS DEPICTED BY
GFS. THE MOST SIGNIFICANT FEATURE IS THE PRESENCE OF WHAT APPEARS
TO BE HAZE ACROSS PUERTO RICO AND THE U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS. MARINE
CONDITIONS WILL CONTINUE TO IMPROVE AND THE HIGH SURF ADVISORY
WAS ALLOWED TO EXPIRE AT 10 AM.

&&

.DISCUSSION...DRY AND STABLE WEATHER CONDITIONS PREVAIL ACROSS
LOCAL AREA WELL AHEAD OF FRONTAL BOUNDARY LOCATED ACROSS EASTERN
CUBA...ALTHOUGH SOME OF THE FORERUNNER BANDS WERE REACHING INTO
NORTHERN HISPANIOLA AND EXTENDED SOUTHWEST. FRONT IS EXPECTED TO
ADVANCE FURTHER EAST SOUTHEAST AND REACH THE NORTHWEST PUERTO RICO
ATLANTIC WATERS TONIGHT THROUGH MONDAY MORNING AND THEN TO BECOME
SORT OF STATIONARY AND TO RETREAT ON TUESDAY. A LAYER OF HAZE HAS
BEEN REPORTED ACROSS THE LOCAL AREA THIS MORNING. OPTICAL DATA
INDICATED THE HAZE EXTENDS SOUTHWEST ACROSS THE CARIBBEAN SEA.
HORIZONTAL VISIBILITIES BETWEEN 5 AND 10 MILES WERE REPORTED THIS
MORNING.

&&

.AVIATION...PREVAILING VFR CONDITIONS EXPECTED FOR THE NEXT 24
HOURS IN A SOUTH TO SOUTHEAST WIND FLOW OF 10 TO 15 KNOTS WITH
HIGHER GUSTS. A THICK LAYER OF HAZE HAS BEEN REPORTED BY SEVERAL
SOURCES AND THE SAME WILL CONTINUE TO MAINTAIN VISIBILITIES FROM
AROUND 6 TO 10 NM ACROSS ALL LOCAL AIRPORTS OF PUERTO RICO AND
U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS AIRPORTS THROUGH 22Z.

&&

.MARINE...MODERATE...LONG PERIOD NORTHWEST SWELLS WILL CONTINUE
TO AFFECT THE LOCAL ATLANTIC WATERS AND THE CARIBBEAN PASSAGES
THROUGH TODAY. THE HIGH SURF ADVISORY WAS ALLOWED TO EXPIRE AT 10
AM SINCE BUOY DATA AND VISUAL OBSERVATIONS INDICATE THE WAVES DO
NOT MEET CRITERIA FOR HIGH SURF ADVISORY. A SMALL CRAFT ADVISORY
REMAINS IN EFFECT FOR MOST OF THE LOCAL ATLANTIC WATERS AND THE
CARIBBEAN PASSAGES THROUGH AT LEAST NOON AST TODAY. PLEASE REFER
TO SJUCWFSJU AND SJUMWWSJU FOR ADDITIONAL FORECAST AND AREA
SPECIFIC DETAILS.

Strictly nothing from this front, even 1 millimeter in Guadeloupe! the catastrophic drought continues to pose a serious problem for all the citizens of the butterfly island  :double: Let's once again keep our fingers crossed to see a decent amount of water during the next couple of days.

Good morning! I see plenty of moisture in the Lesser Antilles maybe some of teh islands will see the much needed rain.

Macrocane, bad news for the folks in the Lesser Antilles because those clouds that you see in the sat images are high clouds that dont produce rain.

 "unhopefully" you're right Luis... and the latest forecast given Meteo-France Guadeloupe is always the same: no rain at the horizon!

Afternoon discussion by NWS San Juan

AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE SAN JUAN PR
300 PM AST SUN FEB 28 2010

.SYNOPSIS...AT MID AND UPPER LEVELS...THREE MID LATITUDE TROUGHS
WILL PASS INTO THE ATLANTIC...MONDAY...WEDNESDAY AND NEXT SUNDAY
BEFORE A RIDGE BUILDS NORTH INTO THE WESTERN CARIBBEAN.

AT LOWER LEVELS...SOUTH SOUTHEAST FLOW IS EASING AROUND A HIGH
PRESSURE ORIENTED ALONG THE TROPIC OF CANCER IN THE ATLANTIC
OCEAN. THIS WILL PERSIST DESPITE THE APPROACH OF SEVERAL FRONTS
NOW THROUGH WEDNESDAY. LATE THURSDAY ANOTHER FRONT WILL APPROACH
THAT WILL ALSO LIKELY PASS THROUGH THE AREA OVER THE WEEKEND
BRINGING A PROLONGED PERIOD OF RAINY WEATHER.

&&

.DISCUSSION...NEARLY SOUTH WINDS AT LOW LEVELS HAVE SUPPRESSED ALL
LAND BASED SHOWER ACTIVITY SO FAR AND WARMED TEMPERATURES ON THE
NORTH COAST TO THE LOWER 90S. WITH SOME VOLCANIC ASH IN THE AIR
AND SAHARAN DUST VISIBLE IN THE SATELLITE IMAGERY FROM AFRICA TO
THE CARIBBEAN...HAZY SKIES WERE THE RULE ACROSS THE ENTIRE AREA WITH
A FEW PLACES REPORTING 6 MILES VISIBILITY. WHILE THE PLUME OF ASH
WAS QUITE DIFFUSE AND BY NO MEANS THE MAJOR COMPONENT IN THE HAZE
OVERNIGHT AND INTO THE EARLY MORNING HOURS...IT IS NOW
VISIBLE...THOUGH NOT HEAVY...AS A WHITISH STREAK IN THE SATELLITE IMAGERY
AMONG THE TUFTS OF CIRRUS AND AT A SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT ORIENTATION
FROM THE STREAMER WHICH IS ALSO VISIBLE OFF THE ISLAND OF MONTSERRAT.
THAT PLUME IS EXPECTED TO CROSS OVER THE ISLAND OF SAINT KITTS
VERY SOON. ELSEWHERE MOISTURE IN AN OLD BOUNDARY OVER THE ISLAND
OF HISPANIOLA IS WAITING FOR THE NEXT FRONT ENTERING THE CARIBBEAN
AND NOW CROSSING CUBA TO PUSH IT BACK TOWARD US AND AGAINST THE
SOUTHERLY FLOW FROM AROUND THE HIGH OVER THE TROPIC OF CANCER IN
THE CENTRAL ATLANTIC. THIS WILL BRING SOME CLOUDS...PERHAPS MOSTLY
AT HIGHER LEVELS...ACROSS THE AREA MONDAY AND EARLY TUESDAY. BUT
THE SOUTHERLY FLOW WILL NOT RELENT AND THE FRONT WILL BE PUSHED
BACK TO THE NORTH VERY QUICKLY. A SECOND FRONT WILL LINE UP TO THE
WEST FOR AN APPROACH BUT WILL BE SLOWED DUE TO THE NORTHEASTWARD
MOVEMENT OF ITS PARENT LOW UP THE ATLANTIC COAST OF THE UNITED
STATES. ONLY AFTER COLD AIR FLOWS OUT OF THE UNITED STATES FROM
AROUND THIS LOW WILL THE FRONT MOVE THROUGH THE AREA OVER THE
WEEKEND. THIS SHOULD BRING CLOUDY AND RAINY WEATHER TO THE LOCAL
AREA...THOUGH AMOUNTS SHOULD NOT BE PARTICULARLY ONEROUS.

&&

.AVIATION...VFR CONDITIONS WILL PERSIST THROUGH THE NEXT 24 HOURS
ACROSS THE U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS AND PUERTO RICO TERMINALS. SURFACE
WINDS WILL REMAIN OUT OF THE SOUTH SOUTHEAST AT 10 TO 15 KTS AND
AFTER 22Z SHOULD DECREASE TO 5 KNOTS. A THICK LAYER OF HAZE HAS
PERSISTED DURING THE DAY AND SHOULD CONTINUE TO KEEP VISIBILITIES
FROM AROUND 6 TO 10 NM MAINLY ACROSS U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS AND PUERTO
RICO AIRPORTS.

&&

.MARINE...SWELL FROM THE LAST MAJOR STORM IN THE NORTHEASTERN
UNITED STATES IS FINALLY SUBSIDING. THERE WILL BE A BRIEF PULSE
LATE MONDAY...BUT AFTERWARD SEAS IN THE ATLANTIC WILL CONTINUE TO
RELAX UNTIL EARLY THURSDAY...WHEN SWELL FROM A STRONG AND
RELATIVELY LONG LASTING STORM WILL MOVE INTO THE AREA AND BRING
SMALL CRAFT ADVISORIES TO ATLANTIC WATERS AND CARIBBEAN PASSAGES.
SEAS IN THE CARIBBEAN WILL GRADUALLY RISE THROUGH THURSDAY AND
THEN RELAX TO LESS THAN 3 TO 4 FEET.

no rain here and most certainly no rain in Guadeloupe
I'm calling in the rain gods Gusty

It was very hazy here early this and my eyes were burning.
I thought the volcano was acting up again, but that's been pretty quiet.
Looks like there was some strong Saharan dust over us early today.
it's cleared up now

The haze that we have seen lately is caused by fires in Venezuela.

AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE SAN JUAN PR
921 PM AST SUN FEB 28 2010

UPDATE...HAZY SKIES PREVAILED ACROSS PUERTO RICO TONIGHT. THE
HAZY APPEARANCE SEEMS TO BE PRIMARILY ASSOCIATED WITH BIOMASS
BURNING FROM FIRES IN VENEZUELA. WINDS HAVE BEEN MAINLY FROM THE
SOUTH AND SOUTHWEST...WHICH WAS THE RESPONSIBLE TO BRING THIS
SMOKE TO THE LOCAL AREA.
WEATHER WISE...WINDS ARE EXPECTED TO
CHANGED BRIEFLY TOMORROW FROM THE NORTHEAST...WHICH COULD BRING
SOME PATCHES OF MOISTURE FROM THE NORTHEAST TO OUR LOCAL AREA.
MINOR CHANGES WERE MADE TO SHORT TERM GRIDS TO REFLECT THIS
SCENARIO. NO OTHER CHANGES WERE MADE. HIGHER THAN NORMAL MAXIMUM
TEMPERATURES COULD BE EXPECTED DURING THE WEEK AS WINDS TURNS MORE
SOUTHEAST AND SOUTH THE REST OF THE WEEK.

&&

.AVIATION...HZ WITH REDUCED VISIBILITIES WILL PREVAIL ACROSS TJSJ AND
TJBQ AT LEAST THROUGH 01/15Z. VFR CONDITIONS WILL PREVAIL ACROSS
REST OF ALL TAF SITES NEXT 24 HOURS.

&&

.MARINE...SMALL CRAFT ADVISORIES TO ATLANTIC WATERS AND
CARIBBEAN PASSAGES WILL CONTINUE IN EFFECT UNTIL TUESDAY MORNING. SEAS
IN THE CARIBBEAN WILL GRADUALLY RISE THROUGH THURSDAY AND THEN
RELAX TO LESS THAN 3 TO 4 FEET.

No wonder Ms. Bee's eyes were burning. We get the same thing here in Houston when they burn fields in Mexico.

:uarrow: When I woke up this morning and saw that very gray sky,I thought it was another Soufriere volcano eruption but now we have another cause. Is the first time I hear that fires in Venezuela can cause this dense haze.

Good morning to all.Dry and warm temperatures will be the rule todayuntil friday when a strong front will arrive bringing cooler temps and rain.

http://forecast.weather.gov/product.php ... glossary=1

AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE SAN JUAN PR
531 AM AST MON MAR 1 2010

.SYNOPSIS...AN OLD COLD FRONT ACROSS HISPANIOLA THIS MORNING WILL
DISSIPATE OVER THE NEXT SEVERAL DAYS...WITH GENERALLY FAIR...AND
OCCASIONALLY HAZY...WEATHER CONDITIONS EXPECTED ACROSS THE LOCAL
ISLANDS. WINDS WILL CONTINUE FROM THE SOUTH TO SOUTHEAST FOR MOST
OF THE WEEK...RESULTING IN UNSEASONABLE WARM TEMPERATURES ACROSS
NORTHERN PUERTO RICO EACH AFTERNOON. A STRONGER COLD FRONT WILL
LIKELY BRING A MORE SIGNIFICANT CHANGE IN THE WEATHER BY THE END
OF THE WEEK.

&&

.DISCUSSION...SHOWERS DEVELOPED ACROSS THE LOCAL ATLANTIC WATERS
OVERNIGHT. THIS SHOWER ACTIVITY IS ASSOCIATED WITH A WEAK COLD
FRONT THAT IS DISSIPATING ACROSS HISPANIOLA THIS MORNING. WHILE
WINDS WILL GENERALLY BE WEAK ACROSS PUERTO RICO TODAY...THIS WILL
ALLOW FOR GOOD SEA BREEZE CONVERGENCE...ESPECIALLY ACROSS THE
NORTHWESTERN QUADRANT OF THE ISLAND...LIKELY RESULTING IN THE
DEVELOPMENT OF A FEW SHOWERS ACROSS THIS AREA DURING THE
AFTERNOON. HOWEVER...VERY LIMITED SHOWER ACTIVITY IS EXPECTED
ACROSS THE REMAINDER OF THE ISLAND.

EXPECT CONTINUED...GENERALLY FAIR WEATHER...TO LINGER ACROSS
PUERTO RICO THROUGH THE MIDDLE OF THE WEEK...AS MID TO UPPER
LEVEL HIGH PRESSURE...A STRONG INVERSION...AND LIMITED MOISTURE
WILL ALL HELP TO KEEP SHOWER ACTIVITY TO A MINIMUM THROUGH
THURSDAY. COULD SEE A MORE SIGNIFICANT CHANGE IN THE WEATHER
TOWARDS THE END OF THE WEEK AS A STRONGER FRONT IS FORECAST TO PUSH
ACROSS THE LOCAL ISLANDS...BRINGING COOLER TEMPERATURES AND
INCREASED SHOWER ACTIVITY FOR FRIDAY AND SATURDAY.

&&

.AVIATION...HAZY CONDITIONS WILL OCCUR ACROSS THE LOCAL ISLANDS
DURING THE MORNING HOURS...ALONG WITH AREAS OF LOW CLOUDS...AND
THESE WILL RESULT IN BRIEF MVFR CONDITIONS. ALSO...SOME SHOWERS ARE
POSSIBLE ACROSS TJBQ AND TJMZ DURING THE AFTERNOON HOURS. HOWEVER...
GENERALLY EXPECT VFR CONDITIONS TO PREVAIL AT ALL LOCAL TAF SITES
THROUGH TODAY. THE MONTSERRAT VOLCANO REMAINS MAINLY QUIET AT THIS
TIME.

Warmest Febuary ever on record in San Juan

http://www.srh.noaa.gov/sju/?n=record100301

The average temperature for the month of February 2010 was 80.0 degrees at the Luis Muñoz Marin International airport in San Juan. This was an incredible 3.1 degrees above the 30 year average and 0.1 degrees above the previous record of 79.9 set back in 1983. A record high temperature of 93 degrees was set on the 25th of the month and the first 90 degree temperature of 2010 was recorded on the 18th of the month. A total of 1.08 inches of rain fell in February, which was 1.22 inches below the normal (weekly cooperative weather summaries can be found here). By the end of the month, February 2010 ranked as the warmest February on record and the 11th driest February on record in San Juan. Links to monthly climate summaries can be found in the local data/record section of our webpage and are generally completed by the 10th of the month.

fires in Venezuela? Now that's a new one.
This is burning off their forests to make room for what? more development? is there any way we can get more information on this? any links?

it is incredibly hazy here again this morning
I thought it was from Saharan dust and/or the volcano. but the volcano has been quiet.
and my eyes are definitely burning again.
this can't be healthy

In todays main newspaper here, they talk about the Venezuelan fires caused by a drought there and with the winds comming from the south, all of that is transported to the NE Caribbean. The articule is in spanish.

Luis
NWS says biomass burning which is clearing forests to cultivate land, often done in south America.
the newspaper article says it is wildfires due to drought....from what little I can translate. :D
which is it? or is it both?
