BEAUTIFUL weather for the Philadelphia area for the past week. Low 80's, if that and low humidity. Great weather for sleeping with the windows open. I'd honestly take this year 'round, with the exception of the holidays.

Now if we'd only get some rain...

EFFECT.

* LOCATIONS...MUCH OF SOUTHEASTERN PENNSYLVANIA...NORTHERN
DELAWARE AND WEST CENTRAL NEW JERSEY INCLUDING TRENTON...
PHILADELPHIA...CAMDEN AND WILMINGTON.

* HAZARDS...EARLY SEASON HEATWAVE...WITH THE MOST DANGEROUS
CONDITIONS IN THE AFTERNOON AND EARLY EVENING HOURS. A VERY HOT
AND HUMID AIR MASS WILL CAUSE TEMPERATURES TO SWELL INTO THE MID
AND UPPER 90S AND CREATE DANGEROUS CONDITIONS...ESPECIALLY IN
HIGHLY URBANIZED AREAS.

* HEAT INDEX VALUES...AROUND 100.

* IMPACTS...THE ELDERLY...THE INFIRM...CHILDREN AND PETS ARE AT
GREATEST RISK...ESPECIALLY WHERE THERE IS NO AIR CONDITIONING.
THIS AFFECTS OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES...ESPECIALLY DURING THE
AFTERNOON HOURS. SLEEPING CAN BE DISRUPTED WHERE AIR
CONDITIONING IS NOT AVAILABLE.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

AN EXCESSIVE HEAT WARNING MEANS THAT A PROLONGED PERIOD OF
DANGEROUSLY HOT TEMPERATURES WILL OCCUR. THE COMBINATION OF HOT
TEMPERATURES AND HIGH HUMIDITY WILL CREATE A DANGEROUS SITUATION
IN WHICH HEAT ILLNESSES ARE LIKELY. DRINK PLENTY OF FLUIDS...STAY
IN AN AIR-CONDITIONED ROOM...STAY OUT OF THE SUN...AND CHECK UP
ON RELATIVES AND NEIGHBORS.

TAKE EXTRA PRECAUTIONS IF YOU WORK OR SPEND TIME OUTSIDE. WHEN

LATE EVENING. KNOW THE SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS OF HEAT EXHAUSTION AND
HEAT STROKE. WEAR LIGHT WEIGHT AND LOOSE FITTING CLOTHING WHEN
POSSIBLE AND DRINK PLENTY OF WATER.

TO REDUCE RISK DURING OUTDOOR WORK...THE OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY AND
HEALTH ADMINISTRATION RECOMMENDS SCHEDULING FREQUENT REST BREAKS
IN SHADED OR AIR CONDITIONED ENVIRONMENTS. ANYONE OVERCOME BY
HEAT SHOULD BE MOVED TO A COOL AND SHADED LOCATION. HEAT STROKE
IS AN EMERGENCY - CALL 9 1 1.

AT A MINIMUM...SEE TO IT THAT PETS HAVE ACCESS TO A SHADED AND
WELL-VENTILATED AREA AND PLENTY OF COOL WATER. THE MOST HUMANE
THING TO DO IS TO BRING THEM INTO AN AIR CONDITIONED ENVIRONMENT.

PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE ANYONE UNATTENDED IN A VEHICLE FOR ANY LENGTH
OF TIME. IT COULD RESULT IN THEIR DEATH.

My car thermometer said 99 degrees when I left work in Philly at 5:45. There's a HUGE 8 alarm fire across the river in NJ in Camden at an old abandoned tire factory. I could see it from the office. I can't imagine what the firefighters were feeling fighting that thing.

Storms are on their way. It looks like all of Long Island, NY was covered by a massive thunderstorm about an hour ago. C'mon rain!!!

Only lasted about 30 min here in Mt. Holly, cool looking movement when it was rolling in. No torrential downpour but we did get a good amount of lightning around 840-45. Feels waaay better outside now lol.

We had a thunderstorm develop over us at around 3:00 pm yesterday and it POURED. It finally moved away by about 5:30 or so. It varied back and forth between a light rain to downpours during those 2 1/2 hours. Cooled off eveything nicely last night. Right now it's cloudy and kind of humid.

OMG! I have a wonderful view of the Ben Franklin Bridge from my building and can see the shoreline of NJ across the Delaware River on any given day. I rained so hard I COULDN'T SEE THE BRIDGE for an hour! :eek:

Interstate 295 in NJ apparently had a mudslide that closed the interchange between Rt. 42 and I-295 going north bound. It looked worse than the southbound traffic to the shore during the summer on Rt. 42.

We received 4" of rain from those storms yesterday!! :eek:

Amazingly, the water is all gone. The heat dried out the lawn and gardens just enough prior to yesterday to suck it all up.

To those in the Deep South, I wish I could've shared 3.5" of the rain with you all. :(
