You're not kidding. This caliber of a tornado outbreak deserves AT THE VERY LEAST a moderate risk.

Agreed, a small MDT should have been placed in there at 2000Z for NE Texas once it was already going on. It wasn't even a hatched area...

A note here...I'm only posting tornado warnings & info but there are multiple thunderstorm warnings at the same time so if you are in or near any of these listen to your local media and do what they say.

From SPC outlook day 1 S & SW AR are still in Slight Risk area.

I'm in a slight risk area too but looks like after 10 pm for me in Indiana.

I chased the storms today, never left the eastern half of Dallas County. I've never seen a tornado in my life and have lived in DFW for 11 years. Today I saw three of them.

I'm not a good photographer when I'm driving.

Near Loop12 and I-30 in East Dallas, the funnel is too freaking close to me. In the foreground, behind the stupid Shell gasoline makes your engine better sign. It wasn't on the ground at this point.

In east Mesquite driving east, came around a bend and saw this:

Image

Zoomed in, it was a monster. Was only on the ground for a few minutes, in Forney.

I also saw the tornado from I-20 near I-45. I SAW that thing and it was terrifying. And gray against a gray sky and I don't think any of my photos came out with anything identifiable.

WOW, that's absolutely amazing!
Do you have any information about the situation in Mesquite or Garland? Some TV channels broadcasting live coverage said something about damage in Garland.

All I can say is I live in Garland near Kingsley/Centerville and haven't had damage, and didn't see any while chasing earlier....I stayed east of downtown though.

See this for more information on that. It could have been much better considering little was expected today (if anything). A tornado outbreak hitting in a densely populated region is not dodging a bullet.

Fort Worth NWS was miserable in forecasting this event today. Go check out their discussion from early this morning....main threat was calling for hail/winds but only low risk for tornadoes. Tornado forecasting is almost as bad as their winter weather forecasting!! Geez!!!!

Doh! I never noticed this thread til now. I'll start posting in this one regarding the storms. Where do I find the images where forecasters try to pinpoint the location of a tornado in a cell? The easternmost tornado warned cell that is over DeKalb, TX is right on top of our deer lease. Our deer lease is just 6 miles northeast of town. Wondering if our camps and trailers are gonna be there.
