Trained spotters reported hail up to 2" in North areas of town. We escaped all but the rain and brilliant CG lightning in our area this time around. I imagine the next round will wake us up in about 4-5 hours. Not looking forward to tomorrow if Jeff's prognostications pan out. If they do man oh man will he be busy tomorrow!!

Hey David! We got pounded here in Bear Creek last night. Lots of electrical activity for about 90 minutes. I hit the sack around 9:30 and my two worthless, scared-of-thunder, 50-pound dogs turned me into a dog sandwich.

Writing this early this AM because I was awaken by severe weather here in Corpus. No official warnings were issued, but I had marble size hail and gusty wind with heavy rain (probably close two inches) since 5 AM.

Nice bow echo headed toward Galveston including S portions of Matagorda, Brazoria, and Galveston Counties.

Tornadic cell over N Fort Bend County moving W into Harris County. Looks like its transitioning into a new bow echo.

Tornado Warning Fort Bend and S Harris.

Appears secondary comma head may be developing south of Katy.

Expect a high wind damage threat along and south of I-10 over the next few hours.

My dad lives about 2 miles from there! I called him at work, and said I hope you have a house when you get home!!

Nasty squall line with numerous embedded bows and LEWPS pushing across Harris, Liberty, and Brazoria counties. Large stratiform region has developed behind the main line with moderate to heavy rainfall continuing.

Flash flooding continues over Fort Bend County where tornadic HP supercell put down 3-4 inches in about 1.5 hours. Urban flooding ongoing over much of W Harris County with many streets impassable. Main severe threat will be shifting into Chambers, Galveston counties over the next 1-2 hours and then into extreme SE TX. Overall trend has been for weakening in the last few minutes, however hail and winds to 50-55mph will still be possible with this line.

We had a brief downpour earlier from popcorn showers. But the main line of storms has yet to arrive.

Yours is coming. Just wait a while.

We are waiting for water to go down before we leave the house for work. Some streets in our area are impassable but should clear soon. We have had 1.2" since my first report this morning in the severe warning thread(about 1 hour ago). Definitely has settled down, but radar shows rain at least for 80-100 miles to our west so it won't be over anytime soon rainwise.

I notice what seems to be more development from San Antonio to west of Sonora. Anyone think it will blow up again and move toward Houston?

It has weakened in the last hour. Severe threat is over except for extreme SE TX and into SW LA as the atmosphere has been worked over and strong CAA is taking over at the surface. Wake low near Matagorda producing 40mph at Palacios and 37 at Port Lavaca. Additional shortwaves in SW flow aloft may generate more showers through this afternoon, but the main brunt is passing on to the east now.

As of 9:05, it's pretty darned dark, looking NW.

(The cam image refreshes every 6 seconds, so as you refresh your browser or visit this post later in the day, it might not be as dark as it is now as I post it.)

Well we are over and one with that. It was quite nasty with numerous hail reports and lots of flash flooding over the past 48 hours stretching from W TX to SE LA.

Rains will continue over S, C , and even SE TX through the weekend as large weakening upper low overruns the surface cold dome. May see some enhancement of rain and even a few thunderstorms Saturday as a stronger shortwave crosses. Models have not been in good agreement with this feature so the forecast could be either wetter or drier.
