yeah, but this storm is going to go well north of Harris County...and since I live in Harris County I am going to need a new cell to form and head this way. I guess I will start to see some activity here later tonight as the storm track begins to shift more southward.jschlitz wrote:It's continuing to develop. Just had a few raindrops here. Heard Tornado Warning for Waller & Grimes on the radio.

well according to what I have heard...supercells tend to leave a cool pocket in the upper atmosphere which can actually help fire new, stronger storms.Johnny wrote:Yep, that tornadic cell has definately weakened and seems to be moving ENE now and will more than likely miss us here in central Montgomery County. The real show is supposed to be later tonight but wouldn't y'all think this current convection has helped cool the atmosphere?

Don't worry Extreme ... there's still a lot of weather and evening/night left for activity. If we're getting hit this hard in south central Texas, you're bound to see some of this activity at some point.
We received 2.11 inches of rain here at my house. Yipee!

By looking at radar trends it looks like most of the activity will miss us all to the north....even the stuff forming further to the south.

Yeah I am in complete shock that nothing is forming south because if it was then we would be a bullseye!Johnny wrote:By looking at radar trends it looks like most of the activity will miss us all to the north....even the stuff forming further to the south.

yeah my hope is that the focus shifts toward us after 9pm. I am REALLY wanting a strong storm!jschlitz wrote:I just saw my first flash of lightning. Keep an eye toward's Waller county. Yes, those existing storms will miss us to the north but I think there still may be time for storms to form W of here. We're still on the southern fringe and the LLJ is still shifting east.
Also, here is some hope...take a look at that line of storms dive bombing SE:

A nice cell just popped up west of Brenham. It also looks like that tornadic storm from earliar is now tornado warned again by looking at this radar loop.

This just in from Jeff via e-mail....
Dangerous supercell moving through SE TX.
Severe Thunderstorm Watch issued N of I-10.
Large supercell with a history of large hail and wind damage moving through Washington, Grimes, and Waller counties. 3.00 in diameter hail was reported near Caldwell, TX along with structural damage near Giddings, TX as this cell passed. Doppler radar continues to indicate a rotation couplet on the SW flank of the storm with good low level inflow into the downstream side of the cell. This cell is capable of producing a tornado at any time. Downstream impact locations include southern and central Montgomery Co.
Secondary supercell capable of producing very large hail and perhaps a tornado is moving through Fayette Co. TX toward Austin Co. Such cells this evening have exhibited long tracks which puts portions of Waller and Harris counties in the path in about 3 hours.
Further West:
Large scale ascent has crossed the Rio Grande and ignited a large round of severe thunderstorms extending from near Del Rio to San Angelo. Given 45-55kts of westerly shear, storms should upgrade into a large scale MCS and plow eastward toward SC TX and SE TX tonight. An increasing low level jet of 25-35kts will help feed this complex. Main threat will be very strong winds along the leading edge of this complex and very heavy rainfall.
