This is shaping up to be flooding of historical porportions. One of those hundred year events  The problem is a low over Texas .It can't move becuz it's sandwiched in between high pressure systems. Its suppose to gradually move out over the next few days, but expected heavy rain over Western portions of N.Texas tonight will make today look like a typical spring shower.Amounts as high as 5 iinches can be expected according to WFAA noon weather reports

The threat of flooding continues as a weakening upper level disturbance still remains in place over Oklahoma and Texas. With a little assistance from warm Tropical Moist air, showers and thunderstorms has become numerous, resulting in creeks, lakes, and rivers rising above flood stage, and threatening nearby neighborhoods. The storms however will become more isolated as we go into the 4th of July weekend.

TexasStooge you guys have been hammered for quite awhile. I have family in the Trophy Club. N TX has had a rough ride. Drought and heat over the past years has turned to floods. You never know whats coming with weather which is why I love it so much. Hoping we are spared this hurricane season along the Upper TX Coast.

The Flash Flood Watch that was in effect for the eastern 1/3rd of North Texas has been allowed to expire, however a Flash Flood Watch remains in effect for the rest of North Texas until 4:00PM CDT. Most of the heavy rain from today on will be concentrated on the western areas, however, we'll continue to see scattered thunderstorms. Although the rain looks like it has ended, there are some areas to be concerned of: residents along the Brazos River watch and wait to see if the river will continue to rise and threaten their homes. The same situation is happening in the Dallas suburb of Cadillac Heights near the Trinity River (Video). Meanwhile, a Texas town of Breckenridge already evacuated their homes.

The rain chances should begin to reduce by the 4th of July Weekend, however, according to a WFAA-TV meteorologist, our wet summer will be well above average in July, and when that's the case, our highs could be well below normal. Plenty of good news there, because we may not have to deal with 100*F weather anytime soon.

Another day, another round of heavy rain. Yeah, I know I said it hundreds of times in the past 2 weeks, but that's what's happening in the North Texas region. No Flash Flood Watch is in effect for North Texas, however, several Flood Warnings are still in effect for lakes, rivers, creeks, and small streams that has crested above flood stage. A FLASH FLOOD WARNING is in effect however for Eastern Cooke County until 10:15AM CDT. Over an hour ago, NWS meteorologists determined that very heavy rainfall upto 3 inches has fallen in that specific area, including Gainesville, and Callisburg. If you live within the warning area (considering the catastrophic event has happened less than a couple of weeks ago), put your disaster preparedness plan into action. If you happen to see a street that's flooded, the advice is that you should not cross it, even on foot. In other words, Turn Around Don't Drown!

This wet trend is expected to continue through the 4th of July weekend with the highest concentration for heavy rainfall along and west of a Cooke/Grayson County Border line, Weatherford, to Southeast of Brownwood. Remember, even when the rain has stopped, excessive runoff can still result in flooding.

It's the beginning of July, and once again as predicted, Mother Mature has ripped open the rain clouds in North Texas. The upper level disturbance (or Low Pressure system) is slowly creeping back down to Texas bringing more heavy rain and thunderstorms, resulting in (guess what?) more flooding! This has prompted the National Weather Service to issue a Flash Flood Watch for the entire North Texas region through this evening (this watch may be extended through Wednesday). The residents in Granbury has been given orders to evacuate their homes after the Brazos River crested a few feet above flood stage. And from this week's forecast, we're gonna see yet another ill-timed rain storm on Independence Day. So much for the parades, fireworks displays and the pool parties. But by the weekend, the storms will be more isolated.

According to some local news sources, the stoprms may be widely scattered on Independence Day.

The National Weather Service has extended the Flash Flood Watch for the entire North Texas region until 7:00PM CDT Wednesday.

NWS - Fort Worth wrote:.THE COMBINATION OF A SLOW MOVING UPPER LEVEL LOW...WEAK SURFACE
BOUNDARIES...AND RICH GULF MOISTURE WILL RESULT IN PERIODS OF
HEAVY RAINFALL THROUGH WEDNESDAY. SOILS ACROSS THE REGION REMAIN
HIGHLY SATURATED...THUS ANY HEAVY RAINFALL WILL QUICKLY LEAD TO
FLASH FLOODING.

A FLASH FLOOD WATCH MEANS THAT CONDITIONS ARE FAVORABLE FOR HEAVY
RAIN WHICH MAY LEAD TO FLASH FLOODING. YOU SHOULD MONITOR THE
LATEST FORECASTS FROM THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE AND BE PREPARED
TO TAKE ACTION SHOULD FLASH FLOOD WARNINGS BE ISSUED FOR YOUR
AREA.

The National Weather Service has issued a FLASH FLOOD WARNING for persons in Eastland County until 1:45PM CDT.

NWS - Fort Worth wrote:* AT 1040 AM CDT...NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE METEOROLOGISTS
DETECTED VERY HEAVY RAIN FROM A CLUSTER OF SHOWERS AND
THUNDERSTORM CENTERED 10 MILES NORTH OF CISCO...MOVING SOUTH
AT 10 MPH. ONE TO TWO INCHES OF RAIN WILL BE POSSIBLE IN SOME
AREAS OF EASTLAND COUNTY THROUGH EARLY THIS AFTERNOON.

* THE THUNDERSTORM PRODUCING VERY HEAVY RAIN WILL BE NEAR...
EASTLAND BY 1125 AM CDT...
CISCO BY 1135 AM CDT...
CARBON BY 1215 PM CDT...
RISING STAR BY 115 PM CDT...

KEEP CHILDREN FROM PLAYING NEAR RUSHING FLOOD WATERS. THE BANKS OF
STREAMS AND FLOODWAYS ARE SLIPPERY AND RAIN SOFTENED GROUND MAY GIVE
WAY EASILY. DO NOT LET YOUR CHILD BE A VICTIM OF DANGEROUS FLOOD
WATERS!

THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF LOW WATER CROSSINGS WHICH ARE POTENTIALLY
DANGEROUS IN HEAVY RAIN. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO TRAVEL ACROSS FLOODED
ROADS. FIND ALTERNATE ROUTES. SWIFTLY FLOWING WATER CAN CARRY
VEHICLES AWAY. TURN AROUND... DON`T DROWN.

Rain, Rain, Go Away, Don't bother coming back for a few weeks or at least until we're semi-dried out. That's what many North Texans are now saying after future forecasts predict a rainy Independence Day. A Flash Flood Watch remains in place for the entire North Texas area until Wednesday Afternoon (more than likely it will be extended...again.

I don't think the local mets have a handle on whats happening. It seems every time the long range forecast calls for a lessening chance of rain, the closer it gets to the dates, the greater the chance. They are saying 20% chance on Saturday, and little to no chance by Sunday. We will see.I live in Hunt county and we have been getting pummeled by the rain this morning-3 inches so far.Scattered street flooding
