I grew up in south Tuscaloosa, that poor city is always in the B Line

Especially in the Super Outbreak in 2011

(Either way, Welcome to the Team! :D )

Yep. Thanks! I actually had an account for several years but had issues with the old account so this is my new one lol

Is the rain over Alabama going to hamper the severity of tornadoes or do the other dynamics override that?

Well today was certainly a big day, as expected. Numerous strong tornadoes reported, including a couple big-time wedges... Thankfully none of them hit any of the major population centers, and so far there have been no reported fatalities and only 2 injuries. It was a major event for sure, but it could have been worse. In hindsight, only thing I would say is that the 45 hatched probably wasn't needed, but I would say the high risk verified, mostly in Alabama. Overall a very impressive day for March, and it looks like tomorrow will likely be another big day for the eastern states. Hopefully this isn't a sign of what's to come in April and May...

Day 1 outlook for Thursday
Image

Much smaller moderate than it was on the day 2 outlook, as models aren't really all that impressed. However, it's still likely to be another impactful event.

I think the high risk was barely deserved here.

I am by no means a professional. DO NOT look at my forecasts for official information or make decisions based on what I post.

Goal: to become a registered expert over tropical and subtropical cyclones.

Next system comes through the plains on Mon 3/22. No severe weather expected at this time, but it could be a nice rain to help turn the yard green. Could see a few rumbles of thunder as well.

Rain bullseye is South Mississippi. Not sure if there will be much severe weather, but that’s a lot of rain

https://www.wpc.ncep.noaa.gov/qpf/p168i.gif?1616293581

The bulk of the rainfall is Days 4-5 so Wed-Thurs with maybe 4-5” that overnight.

Looks like SELA, South Mississippi and South Alabama get most of that. We should watch to see how (or if) that changes early in the week. Looks like a decent Spring rain event.
