It's amazing what the air feels like this evening. Like a warm fall evening vs. the usual sauna inferno.

1.3F above normal for DFW in July, the rest of the month will cut it down some so we might end up near normal. Definitely not looking like a repeat of the past 2 summers, so far. A year ago around this period we were amidst a heatwave 105-110F.

Re: Texas Summer 2024
Nice wording the EWX!
The upper low is suggested to be in its most "cut-off" state by late Thursday with upper ridges to the east and west
pinching it back into a weaker shear axis by the next Weekend. All the medium range keep active convection going over our region through next weekend, so aside from the ominous potential for significant
flooding, this might just be the pattern that is capable of breaking the multi-year drought over the Hill Country.

Re: Texas Summer 2024
Looks like the heavier stuff is south of DFW but hard to complain about any rain in late July!
We got over .30 in two brief heavy downpours overnight.

Looks like The southern plains continue to luck out this summer, consistently stuck between two record shattering heat domes.

With the rainy-ish morning it is cooler now at DFW than at midnight when it was low 80s. One of those rare July days.

Re: Texas Summer 2024
Stratiform rain (not even thunder) and temps in the 70s at 1pm in late July for North Texas is surreal...

Re: Texas Summer 2024
Need to watch the flooding potential for central texas to se texas tuesday- friday, NAM is the first short range model getting into range of a possible heavy rain event, and it has a big bullseye of 10-15 inches between central and se texas

Re: Texas Summer 2024
Looks like most of the rain didn't make it past I35 to my part of town, less than .2" in my gauge in East Austin.

High of 86 and 1.85" of rain at DFW to set a daily record for July 21.
By the way, the low on this date two years ago was 85.

Nice 2.76" over Junction last 3 hours. Although looks like maybe EWX is expecting possible shift later in the week to a bit farther East of Central Texas. I noticed precip chances in Austin down a bit later.

Bad trends on the models the past couple days. Models are now developing a coastal low, which robs most of the rain from central TX and inland SETX counties and confines it to the immediate coastline and just offshore.
