I would like to see that slide about 100 miles further South please. We.re at 76f in Houston this am after heavy rains up to 8"+ in our area last night(4.25" at my place and 8.61" at Srainhoutx). That 76f is one of the lowest lows we have had in the last month.

The rain paused long enough to check - I've had 3.41" since yesterday afternoon. Now my gauge - while it' a good Stratus gauge and has a pretty wide un-obscured view - it still has trees to its west and north in the neighbors' yards. (FWIW, This is the reason I'm not reporting on CoCoRas.)

During the real heavy downpour last night, the wind was howling out of the north and northwest, with sideways rain, so I don't know how accurate the total is. But still - knowing I got at least that much - time for a happy dance!

Hi of 90F here in Houston today at the house. 10f+ below the last 5. 4.25" overnight with approx. 0.30" or so today with more moving in within the hour. Loving the temps. Even needed the rain, but would prefer that amount spread over a few days.
Yes, I am complaining!! Deal with it!! :cheesy:

Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Austin/San Antonio TX
928 PM CDT SUN AUG 14 2016

.UPDATE...
Have issued a Flash Flood Watch for all of South Central Texas for
overnight into Monday morning. An upper level trough over eastern
New Mexico, a mid level trough/shear axis over southern into
central Texas, and a surface trough from the middle Rio Grande
Valley across the Hill Country will all provide upward forcing. A
tropical airmass resides over our area with PWs in the 2 to 2.5
inch range. Numerous Hi-res models show a warm core rain event
developing overnight.
Area radars show indications that this will
unfold in the next several hours. Some areas have already received
2 to 6 inches of rain over the last couple of days making soils
more saturated. We expect widespread rainfall amounts of 1 to 3
inches with isolated totals of 6 inches. These rains will result
in more rapid runoff to create flash flooding. The heaviest rains
will be east of an Eagle Pass to Kerrville to Giddings line and
include the Austin and San Antonio metro areas. Some areas
northwest of this line have received heavy rains, making lighter
amounts possibly quick to runoff. Models continue wet pattern at
least through mid week.
Have re-established trends to the
temperatures, dewpoints, and winds for the rest of tonight into
Monday morning. Remainder of South Central Texas forecast is on
track.

Now that the system over Louisiana has passed (it was centering all the moisture and convection around it) we can finally get some more widespread coverage in Texas. I'm sure they are happy over there being gone with the mess they have to clean up. Without that non-named system sapping everything to the east the frontal boundary can be focused on. Lets see if DFW can get stuck in the 70s with rain.

GFS keeps DFW in the 70s Wednesday and only barely makes 80 Thursday... get outside and enjoy this week... it doesn't get much better in August.

Also the front next weekend is back. Very active pattern on the GFS. Gonna be hard to get any sustained heat.

What a beautiful sight to see, especially in August! Widespread tropical rain showers are currently moving northward across much of the region. Elevated rain chances will remain in the forecast over the next few days, with additional rainfall totals of 1-3 inches likely.

About 2.8 inches since Saturday (and counting). :D Hard to believe it was 103 on Friday with smoky air quality! Highs may not make it out of the 70s today!

I have been weaned into this 'cooler' weather now. 80s seem warm, going to need 60s now :D

Pwats are high across Texas. Even light returns on radar may actually be like tropical downpours on the ground.

Yep, you're definitely right on that. I drove through a downpour on my way home from work this morning what looked like a light shower on radar. Very tropical-like air mass over a large part of the state right now. I love it! :D
