Any predictions for the Lake Charles, LA area? We've been getting watches and warnings for two days with nothing more than a few hit and miss showers.

I hope the bark is worse than the bite for this line of storms.

Hittting my area in Spring Branch right now. winds have guisted to around 50 mph and now the rain has started. So far nothing severe in this area of town. Winds have settled a little. Already 21,000 without power. daughter is on phone scared because of hail. I hope it isn't the large hail we have heard about with earlier storms. Now it seems to be letting up some here in Spring Branch but still getting plenty of lightning. Other metro areas are getting pounded! Good news is that storms are moving at up to 60 mph but of course that means there are winds that strong too.

Most of the worst is already heading into the downtown area and Eastern areas of Houston. Still plenty of lightning, but the rain has let up and there is no wind now in my area.

The squall has a sharp gradient, it will just pound you instantly, not gradually come, in fact shoudl already be seeing rain. also rain= not good if you are under a severe t storm. if tthat happens, then you are either out of it, or under the updraft and subject to tornadoes

All done here S of Houston in League City. Awoke the wife a few seconds before the blue flashes to the W. Got the baby and headed to the bathroom. I can honestly say this is the first time I heard winds that sounded like jet overhead. It only last a few minutes with pea size hail. Power went off for a minute or two. 50-60MPH at least.

Well its all over now.

Time to let the adrenalin where off and sleep.

First post here - Ok, that was kinda crazy!

The storm just blew through downtown Houston:: very fast and furious. Winds were howling and the lightening strikes were constant and intense - it was a major light show!

Centerpoint Energy reports 80,000 homes without power as of 10:40 pm.

It was (exciting and short-lived) here. I just hope the bayous and rivers hold their banks enough to prevent major flooding.

That's always the issue in Houston. It has been for the past 5 days.
