In San Juan is cloudy with scattered showers moving thru, but the main concern is in the southern part of the island, where it has been raining for more than 24 hours.I am safe and dry. :)

:) Thanks for posting this Cycloneye! Glad to see that you're safe and dry :) If anything happens keep us informed as usual. You make a daily remarkable job and we all appreciate . Looks like that the impressive tail of Tomas could bring showers on the Northern Leewards too even not so far from Guadeloupe, let's wait and see.

AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE SAN JUAN PR
1107 AM AST SAT NOV 6 2010

.UPDATE...AS OF 11 AM AST...SHOWERS HAD BEGUN TO TAPER OFF ACROSS
MUCH OF PUERTO RICO...ALTHOUGH SEVERAL RIVERS REMAINED AT ELEVATED
LEVELS AND SOILS HAD BECOME SATURATED ACROSS MUCH OF THE ISLAND.
WITH AN ELONGATED BAND OF MOISTURE VISIBLE IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
EXTENDING INTO SOUTH AMERICA...EXPECT THE POTENTIAL FOR
REDEVELOPMENT OF ADDITIONAL SHOWER AND THUNDERSTORMS AS WE MOVE
INTO THE AFTERNOON HOURS...ESPECIALLY IF WE SEE A FEW BREAKS IN
THE THICK CLOUD COVER ACROSS THE REGION. THIS BAND OF MOISTURE IS
ASSOCIATED WITH TROPICAL STORM TOMAS...NOW LOCATED ABOUT 400 MILES
NORTHWEST OF SAN JUAN...AND IS EXPECTED TO LINGER ACROSS PORTIONS
OF THE LOCAL ISLANDS THROUGH AT LEAST MONDAY. AS A RESULT...A
FLASH FLOOD WATCH WAS ISSUED EARLIER THIS MORNING...AND REMAINS IN
EFFECT...FOR ALL OF PUERTO RICO AS WELL AS THE U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS
THROUGH MONDAY AFTERNOON.

LINE OF VERY HEAVY SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS MOVING ACROSS VIEQUES
AND FAR EASTERN SECTIONS OF PUERTO RICO. BRIEF PERIODS OF VERY HEAVY
RAINFALL...PONDING OF WATER ON ROADWAYS...AS WELL AS THE FLOODING OF
SMALL STREAMS AND CREEKS CAN BE EXPECTED WITH THIS SHOWER AND
THUNDERSTORM ACTIVITY THROUGH AT LEAST 430 PM AST.

MOST FLOOD DEATHS OCCUR IN AUTOMOBILES. NEVER DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO
AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE ROADWAY. FLOOD WATERS ARE USUALLY
DEEPER THAN THEY APPEAR. JUST ONE FOOT OF FLOWING WATER IS POWERFUL
ENOUGH TO SWEEP VEHICLES OFF THE ROAD. WHEN ENCOUNTERING FLOODED
ROADS MAKE THE SMART CHOICE...TURN AROUND...DONT DROWN.

Wow,that is very cold for being down in latitude. That also means, the window is closing for tropical developments.

AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE SAN JUAN PR
306 PM AST SAT NOV 6 2010

.SYNOPSIS...TROPICAL STORM TOMAS NOW ACROSS THE SOUTHWEST ATLANTIC...
WILL CONTINUE TO MOVE NORTH NORTHEAST INTO THE OPEN ATLANTIC OVER
THE NEXT FEW DAYS. IN DOING SO IT WILL PULL A LONG MOISTURE BAND
ACROSS THE EASTERN CARIBBEAN AND OVER THE LOCAL REGION. AS THIS
FEATURE LIFTS FURTHER NORTH AND AWAY FROM THE AREA...EXPECT THE
SURFACE PRESSURE GRADIENT TO LOOSEN AND THUS LEAD TO A DIMINISHING
OF THE NOW DOMINANT SOUTHEAST WIND FLOW.

IN THE UPPER LEVELS...LONG WAVE TROUGH NOW EXITING THE EASTERN
SEABOARD OF THE UNITED STATES AND SUPPORTED BY A COLD FRONT MOVING
ACROSS THE WEST ATLANTIC...WILL CONTINUE TO MOVE EASTWARD AND ERODE
THE MID TO UPPER LEVEL RIDGE NOW IN PLACE ACROSS THE LOCAL AREA BY
MONDAY. A STRONG SURFACE HIGH PRESSURE TRAILING THE COLD FRONT WILL
BUILD ACROSS THE WEST AND SOUTHWEST ATLANTIC...AND IN DOING SO WILL
CREATE A MORE NORTHERLY WIND FLOW ACROSS THE LOCAL REGION BY THE
EARLY PART OF NEXT WEEK.

&&

.DISCUSSION...
THE LARGE RAIN BAND FROM TOMAS WHICH SPIRALED ACROSS THE AREA
EARLIER THIS MORNING...MOVED EAST ACROSS EASTERN PUERTO RICO AND
THE VIRGIN ISLANDS..THEN DISSIPATED DURING THE AFTERNOON HOURS.
HOWEVER...THE AREA OF LOW LEVEL CONVERGENCE SET UP BY TOMAS AND
THE HIGH PRESSURE ACROSS THE NORTH CENTRAL ATLANTIC WILL LINGER
OVER THE REGION THE SUNDAY. THEREFORE...EXPECT PERIOD OF SHOWERS
AND ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS TO DEVELOP ACROSS THE LOCAL WATERS...THEN
MOVE INLAND ACROSS THE ISLANDS FROM TIME TO TIME. IN ADDITION...STILL
EXPECT OCCASIONAL RAIN BANDS TO MOVE ACROSS THE AREA LATER THIS
EVENING AND DURING THE OVERNIGHT HOURS. THIS WILL ALSO BRING PASSING
SHOWERS AND POSSIBLY ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS ACROSS PARTS OF THE ISLANDS
FROM TIME TO TIME...AS TOMAS IS FORECAST TO TRACK NORTHEAST ACROSS
THE ATLANTIC TODAY THROUGH SUNDAY...THEN MORE EASTWARD MONDAY.

WITH THIS OVERALL PATTERN...EXPECT MOIST AND FAIRLY UNSTABLE
ENVIRONMENT TO PREVAIL ACROSS THE REGION THROUGH THE WEEKEND AND
INTO MONDAY. THIS WILL RESULT IN PERIODS OF SHOWERS AND ISOLATED
THUNDERSTORMS ACROSS THE ISLANDS EACH DAY WITH PERIODS OF LOCALLY
HEAVY RAINFALL IN ISOLATED SPOTS. THE RECENT RAINS HAVE LEFT
THE SOIL SATURATED ACROSS THE PUERTO RICO AND PARTS OF THE VIRGIN
ISLANDS...AND SEVERAL RIVERS AND STREAM ACROSS PUERTO RICO REMAIN
AT HIGH LEVELS. ADDITIONAL RAINS OF EVEN MODERATE INTENSITY WILL
ONLY AGGRAVATE THE SITUATION AND LEAD TO FLASH FLOODING. THEREFORE
DECIDED TO CONTINUE WITH THE FLASH FLOOD WATCH FOR THE ISLANDS AT
LEAST THROUGH MONDAY AFTERNOON. ALTHOUGH THE HEAVY RAINFALL WILL
NOT BE CONTINUOUS...ACCUMULATIVE RAINFALL TOTALS OF 3 TO 6 INCHES...
WITH LOCALLY HIGHER AMOUNTS...ARE POSSIBLE ACROSS MAINLAND PUERTO
RICO AND TOTALS OF 2 TO 4 INCHES REMAIN POSSIBLE ACROSS CULEBRA...
VIEQUES...AND THE U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS ESPECIALLY LATER TONIGHT AND
CONTINUING THROUGH MONDAY AFTERNOON.

&&

.AVIATION...TEMPORARY MVFR CONDS WILL REMAIN POSSIBLE ACROSS ALL PR
TAF SITES AS WELL AS THE USVI THROUGH AT LEAST 07/12Z. BRIEF IFR
CONDS WILL ALSO BE POSSIBLE ACROSS TJMZ AND TJPS FROM 06/20Z-07/02Z.
AT THIS MOMENT...TNCM AND TKPK REMAIN OUTSIDE THE AREA FOR MORE
SIGNIFICANT SHRA AND TSRA DEVELOPMENT...BUT COULD SEE SOME BRIEF
MVFR CONDS AFFECT THOSE SITES AFT 06/23Z. LLVL WIND FLOW EXPECTED TO
REMAIN SSE AT 10 TO 15 KTS...WITH LOCALLY TERRAIN DRIVEN
VARIATIONS...THROUGH AT LEAST 07/12Z.

&&

.MARINE...WINDS WILL GRADUALLY DIMINISH ACROSS THE LOCAL WATERS
OVERNIGHT THROUGH SUNDAY AS TOMAS LIFTS NORTHWARD...THEREFORE A
SMALL CRAFT ADVISORY REMAIN IN EFFECT FOR THE OFFSHORE ATLANTIC
WATER. SMALL CRAFT OPERATORS SHOULD EXERCISE CAUTION ELSEWHERE AS
INFREQUENT RAIN BANDS FROM TOMAS WILL MOVE ACROSS THE LOCAL WATERS
DURING THE OVERNIGHT HOURS. A LONG PERIOD NORTHWESTERLY SWELLS
GENERATED FROM THE COLD FRONT ACROSS THE ATLANTIC AND THE DEPARTING
TROPICAL STORM TOMAS WILL ENTER LOCAL ATLANTIC WATERS ON SUNDAY...
AND CONTINUE TO AFFECT THE LOCAL WATERS THROUGH THE EARLY PART OF
NEXT WEEK. THIS WILL KEEP SEAS FAIRLY HIGH THROUGH MUCH OF NEXT
WEEK. PLEASE REFER TO LATEST COASTAL WATERS FORECAST AND STATEMENTS
FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION.

Yeah it has been that cool that the maximum temperature today in San Salvador failed to reach 26°C (79°F), this event will last until Monday and the models are not prediciting another front to reach the area for at least the next 10 days but as you said it's a signal that conditions in the Caribbean are becoming less conducive for tropcial cyclones.
