Good morning, neighbors, happy to see you all here!

I must apologize for being un-sociable this season, but I've been very sick last couple of months, twice in hospital. Slowly but surely, getting better. (More tests and a corrective surgery likely, as soon as I can find the money.) Big medical bills (no insurance) and lots of lost income, makes WORK the first priority for my limited daily energy! Internet, emails, housecleaning, clothes-washing - all on the back burner until reaching critical mass. Forum-reading has been something I could only dream of doing again when time permits.

It is so good to be here again!!

Welcome back to storm2k and welcome to our tent thread for us.Looking foward to your reports from there all season long and if possible in a daily basis even better. :) This thread is for us to post 365 days / 24/7 weatherwise events in the Eastern Caribbean in other words,a permanent thread.

Sunny skies with a fresh east breeze this morning.I think by afternoon,we will have some showers caused by the trail moist of wave combined with diurnal heating.

Judging from this loop, 97L appears to be intensifying. We'd better keep a heads up, folks!
Presently, the weather here is pretty sunny and breezy but I can see one or two cumulonimbus clouds in the distance.

Hi HUC and Gusty! Looks like Guadeloupe had less of the rain last 2 days than Martinique and St. Lucia, but DID have the winds and seas.

One big gust yesterday (lasted all of 15 seconds) was enough to blow out a transformer in the neighborhood and power was out about 2 hours. Around 9 we had that cluster of thunderstorms with some more gusty wind, but only hear a bit of thunder. The rain on my metal roof was so loud, I couldn't hear the tv at full blast. But that only lasted a short while. Since June, our cistern has been overflowing when it rains, but a friend yesterday, only 1 mile to the west in deep forest near top of island, was praying for good rain - he's close to needing a truckload of water.

Mostly it's been hot, hazy, hot... did I mention HOT?!! ;-)

And "hi" to my Bajan friend, too!

Bvigal, I'm so sorry to hear of your plight over the last couple of months :( . I can only imagine how stressful it must be having to work while recuperating because of your financial situation. I fervently wish that my own financial position would have allowed me to wire funds to you so that you could take as much time off as needed but regrettably this is not presently the case.

However, in lieu of money, my heartfelt prayer is for your energy level to fully return and be even better than prior to the illness. I am also praying (as I type) for money to come to you from an unexpected source. (It may be an opportunity you have formerly overlooked or perhaps a cheque in the mail.)

(((warm hugs))) & God Bless.

EDIT: It's just occurred to me that this should probably have been sent as a PM instead of in the thread but I'll leave it here.

Just had some good rain again (for 15 min), preceded by gusty winds, line of showers/tstorms moving through.

bvigal, I'll just ditto abajan, because I don't think much more could be said as well as already expressed. Drop me a note!

Here on Culebra it's breezy and sunnysunnysunny. White caps on the bay. A lot of rain in the evening and night, a quick shower this morning and nothing since, despite predictions.

Luis, thanks for the invite! I've stayed away with a sort of knock on wood thankfulness that I didn't have to be here *yet*! But it seems like it's time again...

Welcome Mj to our thread tent for us.I think this is a great idea that I had to do this as we dont have to be exclusivly at Talking Tropics forum posting about the tropics in general but by having this thread at Weather Attic forum,it joins all our Caribbean friends in one place to post about what is going on in our area.

This afternoon has been a rather wet one in San Juan as scattered showers haved moved thru in a fast speed way.By the looks of the radar, some more is comming for this evening. This is the moist air left behind by the wave.

AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE SAN JUAN PR
504 PM AST SUN JUL 19 2009

.DISCUSSION...A TROPICAL WAVE LOCATED JUST SOUTH OF HISPANIOLA
LATE THIS AFTERNOON...WILL CONTINUE MOVING WEST NORTHWEST AND AWAY
FROM THE LOCAL AREA TONIGHT. HOWEVER...MOISTURE LINGERING BEHIND
THIS WAVE WILL CONTINUE TO RESULT IN BANDS OF SHOWERS AND
THUNDERSTORMS WITH BRIEF STRONG AND GUSTY WINDS ACROSS THE
LOCAL ISLANDS...ESPECIALLY THROUGH LATE TONIGHT...WITH ACTIVITY
EXPECTED TO DIMINISH OVERNIGHT...AS A BRIEF PERIOD OF SOMEWHAT
"DRIER" CONDITIONS IS EXPECTED THROUGH THE FIRST PART OF
MONDAY...YET STILL WITH NOCTURNALLY/DIURNALLY INDUCED ACTIVITY.
MOISTURE IS EXPECTED TO INCREASE SIGNIFICANTLY AGAIN LATE MONDAY
AND MONDAY NIGHT THROUGH TUESDAY...AS NEXT TROPICAL WAVE PASSES
ACROSS OR JUST SOUTH OF THE LOCAL ISLANDS...RESULTING IN
ADDITIONAL UNSETTLED CONDITIONS...WITH A GOOD DEAL OF
CLOUDINESS...SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS.

SPEAKING OF THIS SECOND TROPICAL WAVE. PER SATELLITE AND TPC/NHC...
SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS ASSOCIATED WITH IT HAVE BECOME BETTER
ORGANIZED TODAY. THIS DISTURBANCE WAS LOCATED ABOUT 575 MILES
EAST OF THE WINDWARD ISLANDS LATE THIS AFTERNOON...AND IS EXPECTED
TO MOVE WEST TO WEST NORTHWEST TONIGHT THROUGH EARLY MONDAY NIGHT
AND THEN PASS ACROSS OR JUST SOUTH OF THE REGIONAL WATERS LATE
MONDAY NIGHT THROUGH TUESDAY. NHC DOES NOT EXPECT ANY SIGNIFICANT
DEVELOPMENT OF THIS SYSTEM...BUT WE WILL NEED TO MONITOR THIS
FEATURE CLOSELY TONIGHT AND MONDAY IN CASE THIS CHANGES. ITS
FURTHER DEVELOPMENT OR NOT...WILL FACTOR INTO THE AMOUNT OF
MOISTURE THAT IS LIFTED ACROSS THE LOCAL ISLANDS AND THERE WILL
CERTAINLY BE ADJUSTMENTS TO OUR GRIDS AND FORECASTS DURING THE
NEXT 12 TO 48 HOURS TO ACCOUNT FOR THIS.

&&

.AVIATION...ALTHOUGH PREVAILING VFR CONDITIONS ARE STILL EXPECTED
ACROSS THE LOCAL ISLANDS AND AT MOST LOCAL TAF SITES AGAIN
TONIGHT...PERIODS OF MVFR AND EVEN IFR CONDITIONS...SURFACE WIND
GUSTS TO 40 KNOTS AND MOUNTAIN OBSCURATIONS...WILL AFFECT THE
LOCAL TAF SITES...AS BAND OF SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS CONTINUE
MOVING ACROSS THE LOCAL ISLANDS...ESPECIALLY THROUGH LATE TONIGHT.

&&

.MARINE...ACTIVE WEATHER WILL CONTINUE ACROSS THE REGIONAL WATERS
TONIGHT...AS BANDS OF SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS WITH LOCALLY
STRONG AND GUSTY WINDS TO 40 KNOTS AND ROUGH SEAS CONTINUE TO
MOVE ACROSS THE WATERS...ESPECIALLY THROUGH LATE TONIGHT. MODERATE
TO FRESH TRADES AND ROUGH SEAS WILL THEN CONTINUE THROUGH THE
FIRST PART OF THE UPCOMING WEEK...AS THE NEXT TROPICAL WAVE PASSES
ACROSS OF JUST SOUTH OF THE LOCAL WATERS LATE MONDAY NIGHT THROUGH
TUESDAY.

We had the fast and furious rain system through here, but the weirder part was the tide coming up...and up and up and up super fast, super high. Eyes to the skies!
