It has been raining steadily all morning and continues at this hour at my locale. Total measured just over .60 of an inch so far today. Since yesterday, total rainfall I have measured approaching an inch. Cool, raw day today with current temp 55. 3 degrees as a Low Pressure wave has moved directly over NE Floridaand out to sea. A cool, northerly wind flow on the back side of the Low is filtering in across the northern peninsula..

Good to see beneficial rains occuring down in the central and southern areas of the peninsula. Hopefully, the severe thunderstorms down there have about come to an end.

For awhile yesterday it looked like we were getting tropical storm conditions but it was a squall line.

For me, I am looking forward to this weekend. Beautiful weather statewide as spring finally has arrived. Starting off at 46 degrees and expecting highs today around 70 degrees inland as a cool, onshore flow will develop this afternoon. It will be cooler at the coast where temps will be in the 60s. Sea surface temps out at Jax Beach is only in the low 60s. It will be a bit cool at Jax Beach for the Springing the Blues Festival. I will be out there later today.

Sunday will be beautiful with highs expected in the low to mid 70s.

A chilly 52F at wakeup and sun-filled skies and 75F as a high. Its ok. Seabreeze knocked us back into the lower 70's F by 3pm and it has stayed there since. But, it is sunny and hopefully Sunday will be a repeat but warmer. While I was gone about an inch of rainfall fell tho nothing very heavy. :P

It was a picture perfect day yesterday here in Orlando after lows in the low to mid 50s temps quickly warmed up to the upper 70s with a nice NE wind off the ocean that made it feel very nice under the high hot sun.
Temps will warm up closer to average today in the low to mid 80s, mid 80s expected for next week and feeling more like summer with dewpoints getting back to the mid to upper 60s with near 70 deg dew point on immediate coastal sections.
There could even be some summer afternoon type thunderstorms from Wed/Thurs time frame into next weekend, based off the Euro's forecast which keeps the next frontal boundary in the area during next weekend unlike the GFS which pushes the frontal boundary through central FL.

GFS is coming closer with the Euro in not pushing the frontal boundary by the end of the week completely across the Peninsula so the chance of rain may linger through Saturday and Sunday for most of Central and southern FL.
GFS now shows dewpoints in the lower 70s to visit the state over the next few days and with daytime heating some isolated pop up showers may form along the seabreeze boundary starting as early as Wednesday and more widespread Thursday. Showers Friday and Saturday will be more directly with the frontal boundary along with daytime heating and high dewpoints.
Is going to start feeling like early summer weather in the next few days with the PNA going negative and both the AO and NAO staying at least neutral if not positive over the next few days.

Preview of the summer rainy season in South Florida starting tomorrow through the weekend...

NWS Miami Long-range snippet:

THE 09.00Z RUNS
OF THE GFS AND ECMWF ARE MORE IN SYNC AND SHOW THE COLD FRONT
MOVING TO THE LAKE REGION OR JUST NORTH WHILE STALLING AND
BECOMING DIFFUSE. AS THE ATMOSPHERE BECOMES INCREASINGLY MOIST AND
UNSTABLE ALONG/SOUTH OF THIS BOUNDARY, WE EXPECTED ISD-SCT TSTORMS
TO DEVELOP ESPECIALLY EACH AFTERNOON IN THE HEAT OF THE DAY
. WHILE
THE MAIN ENERGY RIDES WELL NORTH OF THE AREA ON FRIDAY, BOTH
GFS/ECMWF DO SHOW A SUBTLE SHORTWAVE MOVING ACROSS SOUTH FL FROM
THE GULF OF MEXICO ON SATURDAY. ANY RIPPLES IN THE FLOW SUCH AS
THIS COULD ACT TO INVIGORATE TSTORMS GIVEN BOUNDARY PROXIMITY AND
A WARM, HUMID AND UNSTABLE AIRMASS EXPECTED TO BE IN PLACE

Nice cluster of storms formed south of Tampa Bay moving north - the first seabreeze storms of the year! After fading out as it moved toward south Tampa, new storms fired up into central Pasco. Impressive for early April. Even more impressive considering how cold it wass only 10 days ago. :ggreen:

As promised by the models a few days ago, tropical moisture has really taken over the Peninsula today with dewpoints near 70 deg F.
Models show a better chance for inland central FL of seeing some summer like afternoon thunderstorms developing thanks to daytime heating and seabreeze fronts.
Rain chances go even higher for tomorrow with the approach of the weakening frontal boundary wich will wash out across central FL over the weekend with rain chances staying high across southern portions of central FL and S FL.

The frontal boundary has been a dissapointment for most of central FL for rain. Many parts had more rain Thursday evening from afternoon heating and the seabreeze front that from the front yesterday through this morning.

Now wait and see if the MCS tracking across the gulf coast tonight through tomorrow night will bring us any rain tomorrow afternoon into the night, but the best chances look for northern FL.
Hoping to see some rain before the heat really kicks on next week.
