Just received a wind gust to 38 mph and for the first time in 28 hours, the rain has temporarily ceased at my locale. Easterly winds continue to gust above gale force out out the coast.
However, more heavy rain will rotate onshore from the southeast this afternoon and another 1-3 inches of rainfall is expectred when that occurs right on into tonight.
Also, visible satellite imagery shows a circulation, possibly a hybrid Low Pressure feature, located offshore roughly about 100 miles southeast of Cape Canaveral.

It is a gorgeous day here! Lots of sunshine, light winds, humidity not too high, middle 80's F with a blue sky and some clouds well inland on the seabreeze front. Yesterday saw several quick downpours measuring 1/2", so that brings us to 2 1/2" of rain this week - not the huge amounts of the east coast but very nice rains for us for early May.

Some parts of inland South Florida might see upper 50's tonight! Awesome considering Summer's right around the corner! What a nice treat

Under brightly lit skies with a few clouds here and there - not above 73F today! In May? DP in the 50's, breeze off the Gulf steady at 10mph or so. Windows open. Fresh air blows through. In May? Possible 50's tonight? In May? I have lived here 25 years and never seen anything so cool this late in the year!

The May Cool continues!
Low of 56 yesterday morning
58 this morning, currently only 74 at NOON, what a beautiful outdoor day!
These temps matched those seen in Immokalee, FL which also had 58 early this morning. I saw that even Miami went to 62 yesterday morning, and they're also in the upper 70s right now at noon. If Summer was like this, I'd call it paradise!

Re: Florida Weather
It's counterintuitive to think of cool weather being signs of Global warming but the first snow ever in May in Arkansas is a sign of the extremes of amplitude.

Re: Florida Weather
Miami Discussion had this little tidbit on the 500mb temp.
A few strong-severe thunderstorms appear
possible given the record cold air aloft (when comparing data from
the past 25 years).
Now that's cool

how about 46 for a low tuesday morning in brooksville, 53 for plant city, 58 for tampa, 61 for ft myers and 62 for st pete? wow. those numbers are from the nws graphic on their homepage. what a delightful bonus. kill off the ac for a few days and enjoy a remarkably sterile airmass by mid may standards.

What a remarkably cool morning in mid-May! Currently 48.4 degrees and it may drop another degree or two in the next couple of hours. I just checked and a new record low for this date has been established at the NWS office. The old record was 51 degrees set back in 1982. That record has been shattered big time.

Re: Florida Weather
Very cool temps indeed, mid 50s this morning in my neck of the wooods.
What is funny is that we keep saying enjoy this wx, 90s are right around the corner but it seems like we keep going back to a "cooler" pattern over and over after just a few 90 deg temp days.
Scary that mid level ridging pattern is pretty much nonexisting across the SE US.

Re: Florida Weather
Looks like our true summer rainy season is going start over the next few days across the FL Peninsula. Little by little the atmosphere is going to be moistening up and with daytime heating along with the seabreeze fronts afternoon thunderstorms are going to be on the increase.
This time no cold fronts are forecasted to sweep the humidity levels away like the last couple of weeks, no mid level ridging is also forecasted by the models that would cap the atmosphere.

Re: Florida Weather
The good news for you, gsytch, is that low level steerings will be mostly from the east & south east across the FL Peninsula during next week, that would mean that any inland thunderstorms will be forming or moving closer to the west coast of FL versus moving towards the east coast.
And indeed the GFS forecasts the highest precipitation totals towards the west coast of central FL.
