Left at 4AM to go to work and I never felt it so steamy at that hour of the morning!Turned the radio on and they said it was 85 degrees, never ever had that kind of heat that I can remember living up here!

My local forecast just called for a high of 105, the hottest day I can remember was 104, once in 1995, and back on July 18th

Oooo we're in the dark pink area (though I'd rather be in the white right now).

Was just outside...one word...OUCH!

Again I recorded personally a high of 102, unofficial of course, for official numbers consult the NWS.

If these numbers WERE confirmed, they would be records

The heat wave is over here. Last weekend it was 98 and 96 of Saturday and Sunday. This morning it was 36. It's near 80 now, but it won't hit 90 today.

July was much warmer than average, and especially at night. We had 17 days in the 90's, which is more than normal. What is really unusual is how warm the nights were. Our coldest night in July was officially 41. That is the first month since I've lived here that it didn't get into the 30's or colder. Extremely unusual it seems.

For July, our mean high was 89.1 and our mean low 50.8. Last year the mean high was 90.2 and the mean low 43.6, showing just how warm the nights were this year. Usually when it hit the 90's in the day, it cools to the 30's and 40's at night, but not so much this year.

Still, as soon as it gets down to -30 later in the year, everyone is going to want summer again.

You got that right!

I don't think that Philadelphia ever "officially" cracked 100 today - Thank God! It was bad enough.

HurricaneFloyd - I'm sure that there were MANY backyards like yours that had over 100 degreee readings. I don't doubt your for a second.

It seems like every part of our country has been struck by a heat wave this summer. Usually it's one part or another.

Yeah, I know exactly what you mean! I thought I was going to die going out running at 7pm tonight, but it actually was a comfortable change from the cold house, if you can believe that! Of course, once I got running, the humidity still makes you sweat like a pig, but at least it was more comfortable than I was expecting.

My parents made me mow the yard. I told them t here was a heat advisory, but they didn't care.

I honestly thought I was dying. I nearly passed out and had to lie down for about an hour just to feel better. I still feel quite queasy and sick now.
